What is good speed of broadband?

Whenever I try to watch youtube videos in 1080p, even 720p, the load up time isn't worth it. The time it takes to load up a 5 minute video on 720p is about 5 mins (the length of the video itself) and 1080p would probably be 10-15. My broadband is crazy slow, definitely under 2mbs. Where I am located doesn't help either.
You need to check how far you are from the Cabinet that supplies your area, speeds decrease with distance, but at about 1.5 miles distance from the Cabinet 5-6Mb is possible - I survive on a 3Mb connection in the sticks, avoid any and all HD for streaming and usually DL any media I consume - where I live 4G options are available but it comes at a staggering cost.0 -
