I think it is better looking for advertisements from people who offer the services rather than you advertising for someone to do the job. There are plenty of agencies around who specialise in home support ranging from simple cleaning to personal care. Just google your home town and "home cleaning". You will pay more going via an agency, but they should ensure that someone turns up even if your primary helper is ill or on holiday etc.

Then put in cleaners / Oban into search ...

It actually returns more than two I mentioned

    How bizzare
I did exactly that and found only commercial cleaners.

yeah I've tried that as well.... nothing local as there seem to be no agencies that cover Oban.

Have you put a card in your local newsagent for a cleaner ?
    Mention must have good references.

Have you any neighbours of friends who have a Cleaner? Maybe you could use their cleaner for a hour a week.

    Good luck

There are two domestic cleaning agencies listed in the link in my previous post #9 that are in Oban.

Yes there are and thank you for that. I was unable to contact either of them.
With everyone's help I have now found 2 others that claim to cover oban and contacted them. One of them wanted over 100GBP so I'm hoping the other gets back to me with a sensible quote.

Are there any charity shops in Oban? I found a good decorator who did a lot of work for disabled and elderly people through a recommendation from a charity worker - you may be lucky with a cleaner.

Its not an attractive job - to rescue a bathroom that hasn't been cleaned in 3 years. If they haven't seen it, you can expect high quotes as they really won't know how bad it is. You can also expect high prices when they don't fancy the job either rather than just saying no.

Unless you're offering to become a regular customer, you might have to pay a highish price just to persuade someone to do it.

How many hours do you think it will take to do a complete declutter and clean in there because, to be honest, I was a self employed cleaner and although I loved these types of jobs occasionally, 10 hrs at £10/hr would not be unreasonable in a small room that hasn't been touched for 3 years!

It used to amaze me that people would expect you to travel to their house and do a job that's been put off for months, or even years in a couple of hours for minimum wage. Also, many private cleaners specify that they won't clean toilets or other particularly unpleasant jobs.

Think of it like this - if you had paid a cleaner for doing your bathroom for the last 3 years, and lets say it took 15 minutes twice a week. That's 2 hrs a month at NMW for 3 years - which is my reckoning is over £500.

    You're getting a bargain!
