Finding a cleaner

Options
This may be the wrong thread for this.... but best i could find

I have a couple of otherwise minor health issues that make cleaning my house - especially the bathroom- a challenge. I usually have a family member who helps with the rest of the house bt they won;t touch the bathroom.
I need to find a cleaner who will give the bathroom a good deep clean as a one off thing as its not been cleaned since I bought the house 3 years ago.
I can't find anywhere to put an advert though!!! I function online and I've tried all the usual places I can think of to find someone but I've not found anywhere.
Has anyone come across someone online you can place free ads for household services? I've tried ratedpeople, bark, trusted traders....but none have any coverage in my small town.

Have you tried an employment agency? I am not sure which ones you have in your town but Reed is a big one. They may charge slightly more than getting one direct but it is reliable source. You can also have them come occasionally or regularly.

I used Maid2Clean recently for a deep clean, though they may not be in your area.

Another place to try is Gumtree, just enter 'Cleaner' in the required column and your area. Have you used the online Yellow Pages site?
  • Gumtree was my 1st port of call but the wanted 30GBP to put an ad up which I thought was outrageous.
Checked yellow pages and maid2clean but neither had anything in Oban.

    Have a look at yell.

Two companies show up for Oban.

Hope you manage to find someone.

I've been given useful recommendations through Streetlife and local FB pages.
  • Can I ask what search you used for Yell? I'm not finding any domestic cleaners at all there

Hadn't heard of streetlife so I investigated but there's no local traffic there.

Then put in cleaners / Oban into search ...

It actually returns more than two I mentioned

Has it really not been cleaned in 3 years, not even bleach down the toilet. No wonder they don't want to clean it.

Get a paid cleaner once it's sorted.

I have a disability that is progressive and reached a point where house cleaning became impossible. The place was a mess. Didn’t know who best to contact. Although I own my house I called local council? / housing association? Can’t remember who exactly, but asked for recommendation. The guy I spoke to said that he wasn’t allowed to recommend but did say who they used for end of tenancy. Figured if it was good enough for them it was good enough for me. Maybe worth trying the same tack.

In my case it was…. http://www.cleaning-4u.co.uk who I found brilliant.
