Logitech not honouring 12 month guarantee

Who was the retailer? The post implies that Logitech aren't recognising them as an official retailer or perhaps that's just the way I'm reading it.

Britain is still in the European Union. and European law dictates that manufacturers have to give a 2-year warranty on their products.
For example, Apple were only offering a one year warranty/guarantee on their stuff ane the EU made them toe the line or face hefty fines.
Since Britain has not yet left the EU then it is safe to assume that this directive still applies here - I know at least 3 people who used this argument to get faulty laptops and other stuff exchanged at a well known PC retailer after more than 15 months in each case.
As has been said, you should have gone to the retailer, not the manufacturer, for a replacement and you would most likely have been successful.0 -
We can read your sig, perhaps you could explain what your issue with takman's post is.
As an aside, I will post in any thread that I wish to for any reason at all, without needing to come to you for permission or approval. Self-appointed guardians of the forum are intensely annoying to me.
That reminds me, I need to add a bit in my sig about people who I am not talking to replying to me when I am talking to someone else!!
"intensely annoying" really?
You must be easily annoyed, if that is all it takes to make you intensely annoyed you must have a very very sad life.
Still my sig does also apply to your post so please go read it again. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -

That's a very common misconception that people have but it is complete nonsense.
All that the EU law basically means that if a product is proven to be inherinetly faulty that the retailer has to offer a solution (which may be a partial refund or repair) for two years. But in this country our law says they have to do to this for 6 years so three times longer than the EU laws!!!.
Plus it only covers manufacturing faults and not the product just breaking or wearing out.
So by saying they have to offer a 2 year guarantee under EU law it just makes you look stupid!.0 -

What you forgot when you were writing your ignorant signature is that many more people will be reading the threads than just the OP. So even if a post doesn't help the OP it may help many more people who are just browsing.0 -

OK that is true, in fact I was one of those people browsing, now let's examine the post in question.time-4-a-new-start wrote: »Yea they are asking for a vat receipt which I don't have. I have a screenshot of my purchase but as it's nearly 12 months how many people will keep the original receipt.
I always keep the original receipts for anything I buy that has a warranty or some value, it's not difficult to just chuck them all in a box!.
I've claimed on logitechs warranty in the past and they have been very good!. They replaced a set of headphones and then gave me a new warranty on the replacement which also went wrong and they then have me an upgrade pair!.
First off you just pick on something the OP said as if to put them down. Then you bore the sheet out of everyone with your waffle.
Do you REALLY think anyone gives a damn about whether you keep receipts in a box, next you can tell us about your recent train spotting activity!!
The OP had a receipt, just not a VAT receipt but all you want to do is disparage them.
The logitech experience you had might have been relevant except that it does not help the OP or anyone else. Logitech sell millions of products, I imagine the majority of them are great, but who cares. The OP came here with a genuine problem and at least I gave him some genuine help rather than talked about me me me.Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
Oh dear.
This post is no use or help to anyone.
Going back under my bridge now.0 -

I don't keep my receipts in a box myself I was just saying how easy it would be to keep receipts using that method!. Which is useful because it may make someone who has read that to think twice before throwing them away!.
So what if you don't care about my experience with Logitech but some people do research companies before they buy from them so I thought I would share my experience considering they have offered one of the best warranty claim experiences I have had.
But I don't think you have a right to criticise my posts consisting your post was just a load of useless waffle!. The majority of your post was about how the goods must last a reasonable amount of time which is irrelevant!. The only way the OP came claim any money back from the retailer if they failed due to a proven manufacturing fault. The fact they didn't last as expected doesn't automatically give the right to a refund.
Then you go on about saying he should threaten to charge them £50 an hour for his time!. How stupid is that, well using that logic you now owe me £50 for my time. If you really think that is legally binding then PM to arrange payment :rotfl:.
So come back when you have actually read the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and understood it!.0 -
But in this country our law says they have to do to this for 6 years
OP - I've had problems with Logitech refusing warranty before (on an item that was much less than 12 months old). They were totally intransigent, and I now refuse to purchase any Logitech products (and advise others to do likewise).Philip0 -
There is plenty of wrong information in this thread.
The best advice so far is that given in post #6:...this is not the right place for consumer rights advice, post again in the Consumer Rights sub-forum or ask a mod to move the post for you. You will receive loads of advice in that forum.0
