Scotland FTB- areas in Alloa?

Looking for any people from Scotland or grew up there to give any advice on a particular area in Alloa, called Sauchie?
We're from NI so not local but have lived in central Scotland (Stirling, Falkirk and Stenhousemuir) for the past 4 years or so. We're looking to buy a house and are doing a second viewing tomorrow for a house that we really really like, it just ticks all our boxes and more and well within budget. We were really excited and then a colleague has said that we do not want to live there or raise children there, bad reputation for drugs and not safe. Thinks the price is so low coz of the area.
Anyone give any experience of this area? Feel really gutted tbh, as we're not locals so are trying to just research things ourselves. The house itself is in a lovely development (or so we thought)..
Thanks

Feel bad for you. I would certainly think something was wrong when you can buy this at such a low price.

The price in this will be right, but location is always so important. Have you spent time in the town? Do you know anyone that lives there?0 -
That house is that price is actually dear for that area as it's a new build, and they're still building there as well. The house we're looking at is bigger than that and cheaper. Alloa itself isn't highly priced it seems, and the dearer ones are all the new builds it seems.
Don't know anyone who lives or has lived in Alloa. The colleague is local from this central belt area. We're going to have another viewing tomorrow and before it we're going to walk about the area to get more of a feel.0 -
Alloa like most places has good and bad areas. Sauchie is the same.
Yes the prices are slightly cheaper than some areas, not necessarily a bad thing. There are all the main supermarkets, plenty to do.
Its a good idea to have a drive round and walk round the surrounding streets. If you look on Rightmove at other properties sold in the area it will let you see if people are not staying long in the area or not much movement at all.0 -

There's been not much movement at all in this immediate area as zoopla shows that they've been bought once when the houses were first built. We thought that was a good thing, as people wanted to stay.0 -
To me that would be a good sign, shows people must enjoy living there and not have any bother.0

The wee bungalow for sale in sauchie is so much nicer than the Lego house though!
I think it'd be an OK commuter town. Are you planning to raise kids? The state high schools are low performers0 -

The husband works in Fife and myself in Larbert. Yes we would like to raise kids soon in whatever house we choose. My husband is a teacher and did say about the schools.
What's the Lego house btw? There's only 6 coming up on my search lol0 -
Lego house is what I call newer estate houses on streets named Wynd, View and Circle! I know a lot of people are perfectly happy with them but just not me! This one, which I suspect you may be looking at? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-60843401.html
I think the Lego bit comes from the brick slip that always seems to appear somewhere on the frontage.
Larbert itself would attract me. Bridge of Allan, Dunblane too.0 -

Bridge of Allan and dunblane massively out of our price range for what we want, Stirling is as well. Larbert we are living in atm and we are looking here as well but, the new build developments there are massive but very overpriced for the same house sizes as some in Alloa and I think that's due to the location as it's good for Glasgow and Edinburgh commute.0 -
I know people in Dollar and Tilly who are quite happy with it.0
