    Morning All.

Orrible weather here today, cold dark and dissing down. Had planned to do some tydying in the garden but that's out now. So think I will spend the morning going through pantry and seeing what I need to get through February without spending a lot.

I have been on the grocery challenge and use up freezer and cupboards since November and now have a nice little bulk buy fund so my plan is to use this to stock up and only have to buy fresh stuff weekly.

I had to go to Iceland yesterday ad both my DD and DIL wanted the £5 pancake and pan offer. They deliver for free if you spend £20 which I don't normally spends in there but thought as I was spending £10 already I would take the opportunity to have my toilet rolls delivered.
So £10 on the pancake offer, £5 on 24 toilet rolls, only left another £5 worth to get, decided the offer on cheese looked good so two packs of 450grms, £4 and two packs of 10 eggs £1.60 completed my shop.

The driver was really friendly and asked if I was OK putting everything away, I told him I needed to get the steps out to put the toilet rolls on top of a unit and he said No need to do that where do you want them, he brought them in and put the on the unit for me, lol must try and get a delivery next month too.

Horrible here too - is persisting down it's apparently a bit milder though it doesn't feel it. :( Sounds as though you got a good buys for your cash yesterday. Iceland is £35 spend here to deliver and I think they must only have about one slot a month to my area as none every come up  I use Tesco and without exception have found the drivers cheerful and helpful unlike the Asda one's when I used to get there's who were generally quite surly. Glad your loo rolls stocks are replenished :D

So far I'm having a bit of a CBA day - poor night's sleep and have just found out my Dad who visited me yesterday has the norovirus poor soul- do hope he's kept it to himself  Don't need to do much cooking today as made soup yesterday and will fling some pasta together this evening. I think I'm going to listen to the wind and rain while reading my kindle for a bit and see if I'm more motivated to tackle my "to do" list later :)

    Morning Everyone

Missed you all last night and there is so much to catch up on this morning :D A friend invited themselves round last night asking for some business advice with the promise of Prosecco...she turned up with half a bottle of cheap white which she said she had to break into before she arrived and then to add insult to injury she didn't want advice she wanted to try to sell me some utilities club thing (network marketing) i hate being conned so she wont be very welcome round here again and I had to sacrifice a bottle of my own Prosecco

Anyway can i add myself to the loo roll collector club ...I get mine from Costco and like Anne Marie I go into panic once the 3 loos have any less than a pack of 4. Other things I like to bulk buy in ridiculous quantities would be Kitchen rolls, tin foil, wipes for the kitchen and bathroom, ziploc bags, .....If ever anything happens to me whoever has to clear this house out will no doubt wonder how many people lived here :o

So back to food :)...today is an odd one I am out to a meeting at 5.30 so wont want much before but probably be too late when I get back. Think it may call for sandwiches and some Heinz tomato soup
Now what to have on the sandwiches ...decisions decisions

Wow thats really lovely of him ...i have Asda deliveries and the service varies depending on who you get sometimes they just dump the boxes on the step and wait while I empty them and others do actually make a pretence of helping but nothing as good as your Iceland man may have to try them

The norovirus is pretty hardy and can live on surfaces for weeks - I'd recommend getting the bleach out and washing down all the surfaces he may have touched - just in case.

I remember that. I also remember we used to have pink loo rolls in the house at that time.

I occasionally accompany a friend to the cash&carry where they do packs of 24 BOGOF. I always feel secure with 48 rolls stored under the bed. Last time I moved, the removal men enquire if I was expecting an outbreak of dysentery.
    How much are they?

It's a bit "off" for a removals person to make any remark on the lifestyle/choices of a client ... he doesn't know you don't have some nasty bum wasting cancer that's eating up your insides!!

It's all personal stuff... none of his business.

I knocked up a quick cauli & onion cheesy bake earlier. It wasn't my finest hour as I was impatient and ate it before it was cooked/browned really ... big mistake is that I used one of those Bigham's pie dishes to make it in and that was really too small for the quantity I made.... so it dribbled down the outsides a bit - I'm not a mucky cook usually.

It's tax return day, so doing anything to avoid pressing the button really .... done it all, all figures entered... just always fearful of pressing that button!

I've had a 'hoard the toilet rolls' mentality ever since the great toilet roll shortage n the 1970s. Remember that?
Oh gods, yes! I also remember a teenage neighbour telling her little brother that because of the shortage, both sides of the paper had to be used..... and he believed her!:rotfl:
I confess to being another loo roll hoarder; we only have the one loo, but when we're down to four spare rolls, I start panicking!

Re tax returns - I do mine as soon as I have all the information I need to do it, usually mid-August. I prefer to get the dratted thing out of the way asap.:o
