My store's still got the rogue batch in stock. They're very pale by comparison... I expect once this rogue batch are finished they'll go back to how they were before ... which is a shame. They're lovely and big and fluffy ... just very white.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I wish it was warm and sunny here - it's much cooler today and there has been some torrential rain this afternoon:(. The rain did obliging hold off earlier so I did manage to get the salady seeds sown:). I had run out of dwarf bean seeds and ordered some more which arrived a wee while ago so need to get a batch of them sown.
My freezer inventory has let me down and of course being CFO I can't blame anyone else:o. No cod loin to be found though it could be lurking on another shelf but that would be a nightmare to try and find..... Anyway a piece of trout from some my son caught last summer has been liberated and I'll have that with parsley sauce and veg instead:).0 -
Back again, in the end for dinner as well as the fish pie & limp celery I also opened up a frozen pack of Morries mixed veg, and it was OK. I had it un opened for yonks when fresh veg soared up in price
But the big success was my HM cheese sauce, after reading about others making it I thought I would give it another go. What has always put me off is my pan always catches & burns. I have one of these Pyrex ones, all the rage in the 70s and not yet dropped it
I spalshed out in £land this morning and used the £1 non sitick pan, it is as thin & flimsy as rice pud skin, but importantly it never causght the milk, and I had HM sauce
I used the bung it all in & stir method, may not win prizes but a clean pan & a clean plate is a result in my bookEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

A wee cheap non-stick pan is great for sauces etc. they'll be no holding you back now LOL :rotfl:
I'm making parsley sauce in a bit - I have wee stainless steel pan (thick bottomed) that never seems to catch so didn't replace my last cheapie non-stick when it died.:)0 -
For tea I opened the pack of part-baked baguettes I'd bought .... then opened the freezer and grabbed those fishy fingaz!!
Those, 10 minutes in the little oven .... splash of red. Job's a good 'un
Freezer's down to just four items now: 2 bean burgers, ½Kg chips, ½ mug of peas, 2-3 small Yorkshires.

So does that mean that Sunday is fill it up again day0 -
Scratch meals over last few days - as predicted - courtesy of the "workmen in again syndrome". Just a last little bit of "finishing up" by said workmen that shouldnt take more than an hour or be too big an inconvenience tomorrow - and maybe I can get to have summat a bit more "meal-like" at mealtimes again.
Ahem - I've eaten my way through nearly a whole tub of clotted cream (with strawberries from garden I hasten to add) for instance. Though I am quite capable of sitting and seating some spoonfuls of clotted cream all on its own:o. A couple of "ready made" things from Aldi. Some ready-made hummus and quite a bit of toast have featured the last few days..0 -

I doubt it...I'm fed up with the sight of food and thinking about it. I need a break!
.... somebody sneaked out 10 minutes ago to buy a bag of choccies.... but between the door and the display there were bags of Golden Wonder crisps half price (6packs/50p) ... so they were grabbed. Then there didn't appear to be the right choccies!!! Then they were spotted....and it'd be mad to take one pack when the shop were so short....so two were purchased.
And a bag of peat to top up the pots I half-4rsed repotted the other week... the roots are poking out of the top of that peat as it's settled, so I'll now top up the pots
EDIT: What's IN the choccies is pot luck as they're seconds.... this lot aren't great, they're all fudge so farNice enough ...but there are better choccies I've had from these bags.

Good evening everyone. I've been MIA due to the plasterer and garden gate post fixers been about. Cleaned up now and house back to normal again.
Big news is that I've weeded the front garden:)I pulled the tall ones out by hand and sprayed the rest then did between the cracks on the path. I am sweeping and cleaning the paths, doorstep and front door tomorrow and my Mum is coming down to be tea lady for me which will be lovely.
I am another baked beans in a chilli person! Thanks for the bean recipe Caronc I'm definitely going to try that one. Do you freeze them cooked or not?
No breakfast today as usual, lunch was cheese on toast and some tomato soup that I'd made and tea was a potato curry and rice. A bar of Cadburys chocolate fell into my hand at the shop so am going to scoff that soon
Hollyharvey I menu plan as it helps me cook and keeps me on track and away from eating rubbish. Hope it works out for you too!0
