Right now I'm using one of the mini pudding pots to hold about 20 pieces of sweetcorn I picked out of a "mixed veg" bag the other day... saving those to go into a tuna/mayo sandwich filler in the summer.
:rotfl::T
Now that is extreme MSE-ing/ thinking ahead :rotfl:'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Now *that's* taking money-saving to a whole new level.
I'm going to adopt a new system: 'the 'PasturesNew Test'.
Before anything gets used / chucked, I'm going to ask 'what would PN do?' :rotfl:.
It's come about from personal annoyances and preferences.
I like a bit of sweetcorn in a tuna/mayo sandwich.
I will only make up tuna/mayo mix twice a year MAX.
No point buying a can of sweetcorn, or frozen, for the 2 tablespoons needed each time as each are too large.
I use mixed veg because it's easier to have one mixed bag in the freezer than 4Kg of four veggies. But, when I've used it I've decided the sweetcorn is "pointless" and I prefer just the carrots/peas/green beans.
So I decided that if I pick out the sweetcorn it'd be handy for those sandwich fillers
So I did it.
First ... you have to THINK like a single person
Then behave so bizarrely, nothing changes.0 -
I've eaten a whole drawer of freezer food since Xmas.
Just been through to drag the final bread roll out ... and realised if I jiggle things around they'd all fit very tightly into the 1.5 other drawers.
Although I didn't actually squeeze the 4 fruit juice lollies and bag of oven chips into the lower shelves ... it's enough to know that "I could if I wanted to".
So I've now got one whole drawer empty0 -

I've got some tiny and some small L&L, as well as some lidded mini pudding pots.
When I was young I started collecting a few "bottom drawer" items, then realised later on that cooking dishes etc were "for families" and rarely fitted anything I was cooking.
My fridge is mostly empty, so I use one shelf to keep all these unused L&L boxes. There's always a time at some point when one will come in useful, but they mostly just sit
I've insufficient stuff to justify using what I've got, in the main.

Classic PN :rotfl::rotfl:
I wont be partaking in the boxes as in theory I could actually run a morning on QVC myself and sell all the ones I currently have and still have lots left over. I obviously had a bit of a Tupperware box fetish at some point judging by the amount I own. I wouldn't mind but I have pretty much stopped using the boxes in the freezer now as I find Ziploc bags far easier to store and stack now.0 -
Actually, re the L&L Boxes, there's a HUGE range in Poundland - in fact, there's one "tiny set of four" for £1 there.
I reckon you could probably get more than 16 pieces for £5-6 in Poundland.
I'd have got some, but I told myself "you've enough already you're not using" ... and I walked forlornly away. It's easy to just "collect" things that are "handy".... but a lot of the time they're not actually handy... just clutter.
So I kept my shiny £1. It'll be better spent on some sweeties... next time they have my favourites in stock.
Just looked at their website:
1.5 litres, £1. http://www.poundland.co.uk/clip-lock-container-1-5-litres
2-pack of square 0.7 litres £1. http://www.poundland.co.uk/square-clip-lock-containers-2-pack
They've got more sizes in store. I hate it when shops do that0 -

I posted this on another thread but thought I'd ramble on here too.... There's a set of Lock & Lock boxes on special offer on QVC today.
Linky
They are a set of two big boxes plus lots of smaller boxes which are an ideal size for single portions.
Just saying....
<creeps out again before she gets flogged for encouraging spending>
These boxes are great I have a few but bought mine in Poundland.
I particularly like the small three for £1 as when I open a tin of beans I can divide it into three portions, saves me scoffing over half a can on my toast.Slimming World at target0 -

I agree - the lookalikes aren't as robust as the Lock n Locks.
I bought some Poundland ones for DIY bits like fuses and stuff but found the flaps snapped off after a while.:hello:0 -
I do have some of the poundland ones but find they don't last that well especially if frozen good value though. The lock and lock ones I have seem fairly indestructible and I've a few that must be nearly 15 years old and still going strong although a wee bit tatty looking. I've found the Morrison's version pretty robust and reasonably priced
I don't use them for freezing, they're "for best". I use the "8 takeaway boxes for £1" for freezing.0
