I wasn't going to jump in to this but as OP of this thread felt I had to. A bit of selective quoting as you called out another poster on, missing the bit "on advice from support services"

My accountants are always advising me of ways to avoid Tax does that make it right?

Anyway I've made my point that's my final post on this.....

I don`t have it karcher but it was very easy, I remember it was basically tinned butterbeans, tinned tomatoes, herbs like oregano and tomato chutney to give it a lovely kick. Topped with a thick pastry crust made with a nice lot of cheese. I remember making three and freezing two in those old pyrex dishes. It was very popular with the family and only needed the green veg. Hardly cost anything compared to meat

I found a different one online, sounds nice too

    Thanks Kittie :)

Sounds delish and a real comfort meal for cold winter days. I will definitely give it a try.

    Evening oneskis :)

Hope you have all had a good day.

I've had a very successful day of doing nothing as planned :D

I managed to get a small pack of YS smoked salmon for a £1 so that is dinner tonight. No prizes for guessing what with :p:cool:

Nelski...hope you've made a start on the book :p..no cheating this time and buying the audio book :naughty:;)

You quoted the wrong bit so I fixed it for you.

In the age of austerity where desperate people are being denied much needed support and services due to a lack of funds most people people would find it morally repugnant that anyone would rush to spend a large inheritance soley to enable them to get back onto claiming benefits.

I thought it was important to say.

Anyway off to do some yoga.

No I quoted the relevant bit.

I think it important to say. What I , personally, find morally repugnant and totally inexcusable is that you choose to post an
extremely sarcastic reply to a person with a difficult mental health issue.

The lady is Bipolar, Google it, and perhaps you will have a greater understanding of why she would have taken the advice to spend it quickly, and why she is now having panic attacks at the thought of going back on benefits.

This is a very brave lady, doing her best to cope on her own. She
is a regular poster on here, she is an active and supportive member
and felt confident enough to explain her circumstances, she did not invite, or deserve your comment. she will be stressed and upset by it.

I will not be posting further on this so as not to cause her anymore distress and hope that you can find enough compassion to do the same.

Enjoy your Yoga and thank whatever God you believe in that you have the health and strength to do so.

I need to concentrate on de-cluttering my freezer, obviously a slow progress as a solo. One strip of belly pork out and de-frosting, I love the stuff and have three left, a costco buy but won`t be buying again. I`ll be working around that today, just plain and simple veg. An aubergine pasta meal will be my last today. Thats it, all food sorted, now to get on and sort a kitchen drawer

Returning to topic. I'm going to do a Jocasta Innes p i s s aladiere recipe later using left over dough from my bread baking.
I've only got left over dough as I accidentally tipped too much water in to my flour and had to add extra flour and yeast. Thank goodness I had it and the sloppy dough wasn't wasted. I had two plastic jugs of water to hand and picked up the wrong one.. blush.
The p i s s aladiere is just an onion pizza with anchovies on but I love onions and garlic - and anchovies so no problems there. It's not from one of the Paupers' Cookbooks but from a 1987 hardback called 'Eatability'.

When I got my SH copy from Amazon I was delighted as it was in pristine condition apart from yellowing. I smiled wryly at a dedication written to the former owner .
    'To Debbie, Supercook of 1991'.
Supercook or not, it looked as if she wasn't a Jocasta fan...
Obviously more money than sense, I love Jocasta's recipes.

Farway - how yukky I'd email M&S, chances are they'll refund the pack price to you. I contacted them once about a loaf I'd bought. When I opened the bread felt stale on smelt odd though it was well within the use by date, a further look identified a wee tear in the bag. They refunded my spend and sent a £5 voucher as well

Thanks for suggestion, normally I put this sort of thing down to experience and move on and never buy again

But this time I took your wise advice and have just been on live chat with M & S, here is the response
Thank you, I will feed this back to the food team and our suppliers right away, I will also send you a gift card in the post. It should take around 3-5 days to arrive. :T
Back to CFO, this morning was another of the doughnuts for breakfast
Lunch was bacon butty with obligatory brown sauce
Cracked open the "free" oat biscuits from Morrison's and snaffled two for mid afternoon snack

And this evening is the last of the M & S steak, with frozen oven chips, fried eggs, mushrooms ans a fresh grilled tomato, health just bursting out of it. The steak will now be extra succulent as the M & S voucher wings it way to Farway Towers

One more doughnut will be harmed this evening :(

    Afternoon oneskis

Having a miserable day today thanks to some really strange people at work ..anyway based on that I made a batch of scones then I can have my sugar hit later :rotfl: I did put some sultanas in to get my one a day :D

2 sausages left from last night so going to have those in roll with a few beans on the side. Starving so it may not hit the mark but I can have a scone later.

Got some speed reading to do tonight but really not in the mood.

Me too...except in my case it's not strange people, it's 1 arrogant, nasty, dictator who doesn't care about anyone but himself  If I didn't need the money I'd tell him to stick his poorly paid job where the sun doesn't shine :(

What with that and my nightmare neighbours, I've just about lost the will to live.

As a result I haven't eaten yet today and still no idea what I will eat.... :(

Bit of a "use it up" day. Half a tin of beans in the fridge, some eggs that need to be got through and some cheese topped rolls I'd bought with a date of 2nd that I didn't want to freeze (trying to empty it, not fill it).

    So I've had:

    Toast, beans, scrambled eggs
    Cheese roll with marg
Cheese roll with marg and a bit of grated cheese. Headed for the Branston, that's been in the fridge for about 2 years, but then I realised I'd finished that up last week :)
