I like no adverts too. I've got sky and I've just discovered that for bbc and channel four programmes (maybe more channels) if you watch one on catch up it automatically plays the next episode. I keep meaning to get rid though and switch to Now TV and Amazon Prime.
I didn't sleep well at all last night so I'm only just eating. Some smoked salmon and an avocado, and I've used my new nutri ninja to make a beetroot, celery and strawberry smoothie. It's ok but a bit bland, I think I'll chuck in some ginger next time.
I'm working on my shopping list now and I think I'm going to get some dates and almond butter, after reading about them on here, but how do I get the butter inside the dates?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Ames - I use medjool dates personally. I like them - but don't go for other types actually.
Getting the nut butter or tahini inside the date is just a matter of getting one of my little sharp chopping knives and scoring down the line on the middle of them lengthwise. Take out the stone and insert nut butter/tahini in instead. I tend to use about a teaspoon worth.
Press both halves together. Eaten in two bites.0 -
Hello all
It's funny, someone was talking about Replacement yesterday but as I rarely watch TV I'd never heard of it. They said it was good so might see if there is a way I can watch it online..not sure if that's possible but I'll have a look.
Just a couple of slices of cheese consumed here today and the usual teas and coffees with milk.
Got a headache..think it's stress/tiredness...so not even thinking about food for tonight yet.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Evening everyone
Karcher - Replacement is in BBC I-Player, I have it on my "too watch" list.
I seldom watch live TV - in fact I don't watch much live or otherwise. I do have a SMART TV (it's certainly smarter than me) but only really watch it when my son is home as it is in the lounge and I tend to live through the back as it's cosier so use my laptop:)
Not CFO so far today - LO potato, mushroom and courgette bake nuked at lunch time and an apple. The bake was simple but really tasty, just layers of potato, mushrooms, onion, garlic and courgette baked in a white sauce with loads of black pepper. Would definitely make againBreakfast didn't happen just lots of cuppas but tonight I'm griddling a turkey steak with onions. mushrooms, peppers and a baby plum tomatoes - loads of garlic and herbs as well so should be tasty. I wrenched my back on Monday and it is fair giving me gip especially when I stand still so wanted something fairly quick & easy and might bung it in the oven (and ignore my smart meter) instead of griddling I'll see.
Still trying to sort out my meat order but I think that'll mainly be tomorrow. As I said part of it is a pressie for my Dad and I had to laugh when my son asked how I was wrapping it. I now have visions of a haggis with a glittery bow:eek: Needless to say it's getting [STRIKE]bunged[/STRIKE] neatly stacked in a gift bag:D0 -

Aaah, I was expecting some complicated process, involving specialist equipment that's probably only available from Lakeland.
Cutting it in half, replacing the stone with butter and squidging back together, I think I can manage!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Ames...which Nutri ninja did you buy please.
I really want something I can make smoothies with. I only have a very cheap hand blitzer thingy which is ok for blitzing soup but no good for blending up fruit and veg for a smoothie.
If anyone else can suggest one, I'd be grateful...very MSE style obviously as funds are very limited

Today I've had:
Fish fingers, chips, baked beans (1/10)
Chicken Korma, Pilau Rice (0/10)
Sweeties/pastilles (0/10).
I popped up the shops for a food browse. I kicked myself for doing that as I've plenty of food here, I just didn't fancy it. I bought the korma/rice because I kind of fancied that and as I approached the shelf I didn't expect to see one marked at 30% off, so that sealed the deal when there was ONE with a sticker!
Just inside the door there were some punnets of red plums, they appeared to be marked down to about half price, so 38p instead of 95p or something ... so I thought about the 10/day and got them. I'll probably eat a couple and make a crumble this week.
I bought fizzy pop
I bought sweeties
I win!
I did pick up a 1 pint of milk, even though I'd not intended to, because the date marked on it said 25 March and so many recipes I fancy need milk, so this week I've no excuse not to make something different.0 -

It's this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01B9ZB1LG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It has good reviews, including on some MSE threads (I searched the forum for nutri). I had one that operated in the same way but it was 230w instead of 900 and struggled with apples, let alone anything frozen.
I've only used it once (I've only had it a day), but it worked fine with strawberries, celery and frozen beetroot. It's got a 'pulse' function that helps with the frozen stuff. You put the stuff into a cup (in a particular order, which might have been what killed my other one because I just shoved it all in) then the blades screw onto the cup, you push it into the base and turn it on. The actual blending took a minute or two. All the recipes that came with it were for about five minutes including prep time.
I'm not keen on the drinking lids though, they're a bit awkward and the flap kept hitting my nose. So I'll probably decant into a proper glass or water bottle.
The blades only need a quick rinse to get all the gunk off so you can chuck it in with the rest of the washing later in the day if you're lazy like me. And it's all dishwasher safe.
It only came with two cups, which is fine for CFO, but for a family or even a couple it'd be a bit of a pain, you'd have to do each one individually.
If there's anything else you want to know just ask.SaveUnless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Ames Thank you for taking the time to reply
Very helpful. Just me here so the quantity isn't an issueand I'd always rather decant into a proper glass
Thanks again :A'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
