Interesting idea. I've never made a bread and butter pudding any recommended recipes/proportions?

    Good evening oners :p

Last night I ended up cooking some wholemeal spaghetti, mushrooms, peas then mixing in a jar of salmon paste and a bit of the pasta water whilst still on the remaining heat (a simple variation on a recipe someone posted on here a few days ago..sorry can't remember who, but thanks:D).

It was absolutely delicious I have to say, I will deffo make that again :)..so cheap, easy and quick and perfect one person food with no LO's. :T

I even ate it out of the pan to save on washing up :o:D

B&B pud is on my list to be made soon .... that list of food I should make that I've not made for years. Always loved it, but never seem to get round to it, but it "made the list" of foods to cook this year. One day .... not today. It was also one of the drivers for me buying the tinned milk the other week.

Mum'd make a big one in a big casserole dish, then serve it with custard.

Lol you were spoilt, B&B pudding was always served on its own in my Mums house, custard was reserved for high days and holidays with apple pie.

before i start I'd like to mention a blog I was reading earlier that would be useful - I mentioned it on the GC challenge site too. It's called https://eatnotspend.wordpress.com/ and there's even a section for one person shopping list for the week (although it's not very exciting that particular list) but we could adapt the others...

    Tonight's meal for one was

Breakfast - porridge with half a banana, few blueberries in it...

Lunch - rest of the banana, numerous cups of tea, a yogurt, brazil nut, few almonds, few prunes - so not really proper more on the go

Supper - Sweet potato oven chips, steamed spinach and green beans, piece of cod marinaded with chilli, lime zest and a little juice, ginger, garlic and salt n pepper

I'm sure I'll have more tea and something else between now and bedtime!

I've only made big ones but I reckon 1 buttered brioche bun cut in chunks, a small handful of dried fruit or a couple of chopped plums, mix an egg with around 1/4 pint of milk and a scant dessert spoon of sugar would work proportion wise. :)
Always custards (Birds powder) or cream/ ice cream on holidays at home for B&B pudding :D

Well B&B pudding was generally special treat as my mum used eggs & real butter LOL so she obviously thought it should be celebrated:) Still in true cooking for one mode you can have whatever your heart desires with it so get rockin' gal  (would just point out a small amount of cassis poured over the bread or used to soak the fruit before the egg mix is added is particularly delicious :D)
