Could you turn one cushion cover into two reversible ones so it is less varied a selection?
No snow here but quite cold so not venturing out. I went to a nice time at the WI talk last night then sprayed a sleep spray on the pillow and had a really good night's sleep. My bedroom is looking less of a junk room and I wrapped an extra birthday present for dd for when she visits next weekend.
Middle dd is popping round tonight so want to make a healthy lasagne using leeks instead of pasta sheets, tidy and do a quick hoover. Really glad I bought the cord trousers I have on as they are lovely and cosy and for £10 in a long length in the sale I got one pair grey and one pair dark purple.
Can't wait for my new bedroom chair as then the room will come together better and not become a dumping ground. Finally started to pin up the living room curtains as they are far too long . I tried to convince family they were meant to drape artistically on the floor but with no luck
Special gentle hug to Lainey, csarina and anyone else poorly.

Hah! Mr LW and I got engaged on a Friday 13th, so we reckon it's a lucky day!SpekySquarehead wrote: »Spooky Friday 13th. Not superstitious in the slightest mind you.
Thankfully the bit of snow we got here has all but gone; I need to get some F&V so we'll be heading into town in a bit,
Lovely to hear of the doggies enjoying the snow - kennel-cough-gone vibes for Dolly, btw.
I've decided I might sign up for an online course in canine first aid; it's offered via the dog-sitting company website. It's donkeys' years since I did any learning of any sort - having lupus brainfog makes it difficult - but I think this one would be useful knowledge. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon.
My drive down was both beautiful and uneventful. Where I live has no snow, the nearest town (eight miles away), no snow either. After that there was snow but only on the hills, roads were lovely and clear. Don't think the driver in front of needed to go at 30mph for the 20 miles I was behind him, or brake at every corner! I eventually got past and really enjoyed the beauty of the scenery.
I stopped at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar to pick up some salmon fish cakes for mum and a packet of salmon pieces. As I don't eat fish I got myself a bridie which I'll have for my tea with some baked beans. Real comfort food.
JL were really good with my replacement PVR, all done and dusted so I'm really pleased about that. Less pleased that their upstairs restaurant is no longer JL but an independent company so I couldn't use my free drink voucher in it. Hey ho! Life goes on.
Mum now resting, she's had me make three phone calls for her, ckimb on a chair to retrieve the cord for the bedroom blind, add up here Premium Bonds winnings and collect a pile of stuff for the charity shop. And she blooming well drank the cup of tea she made for me. :rotfl::rotfl:
Off to make a fresh cup and hide it.0 -
Good evening,
thank you for the thread nmlc.
Hugs, thoughts and prayers for all who need them, well wishes to the poorlies.
Lainey I did not see your post today, thinking of you and your DM.
LW good luck with part time job search.
JackieO glad you and your DGS made it back safely.
Today was a very good day, woke up fairly early after an uneventful night (a bit of cramps in my legs kept me awake on and off but then managed to get good sleep).
This morning DH had his first bootcamp since before Christmas and before he got the flu. I was concerned but he said he would take it easy so off he went. I was going to stay in bed until his return but then, while the sky was still fairly clear, decided to surprise him and walk down to where they do the bootcamp. The lady who runs it is also a good friend, I used to do the same bootcamp before my hip started complaining.
Anyway, I got up, showered and dressed and off I went, but before I was half way there it started snowing. Just as well I was nice and covered, long coat with high neck and a thermal hat on. I have to say, it was quite pleasurable walking in the middle of the snowflakes while being nice and toasty. I got there as they were finishing and DH was pleased to see me and proud that I had done my first long-ish walk (half hour) since coming back and recovering from the flu too. He said he had taken it easy and was very pleased to have started exercising again.
At noon we went to see a buiding society manager to transfer our current accounts to a joint one which was open but dormant. This account is in an ethical b.s. and the other ones aren't, so we decided to transfer everything into this one and simplify life at the same time. The manager was extremely pleasant and helpful and even showed us how to recommend each other so if it works out well we should be able to get around £400 in all for recommendations! It massively compensates for the tiny interest loss that we were going to have by moving accounts from the other ones. Very pleased.
We celebrated by having lunch out in a cafe that did salads too, then went to MrT to pick up a bit of groceries. I got the fancy for brussel sprouts, which I haven't had at all this year, being abroad over Christmas.
I am so tired! Luckily DH will do the honours in cooking, the chick peas that were soaking since this morning are in the pressure cooker and DH is going to make a sauce for them, plus steam all the veg including the sprouts YUMMY!
Battening down the hatches now and going to watch a bit of TV.
Have a good evening. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Started snowing 7.30am, had stopped by 8.30am but traffic chaos, took over 1hr to travel just under 2 miles on the only bus running0

Evening all,
Snow all gone here in SE London thank the Lord. It was a bit dicey walking down the hill at 7am as the pavements were really icy. I bought a couple of pairs of croc$ for work - not the holey clog mule ones, but they look like normal flat pumps. The great thing is, they are rubber (waterproof), fleece lined (warm) and have a great grip
Ideal for work during these winter months.
Work was busy and I did want to leave early as I got in at 8.25. Didn't get away until 4.40 but still nice to be home earlier. I have just dyed my hair as the greys were taking over. Need to get my eyebrows waxed tomorrow in town - work won't recognise me on Monday
Glad you got back safely from the airport Jackie xx Lainey - thinking of you my lovely xx dumpling - you're doing great xx
Hugs to everyone else. Stay safe and warm xx
