  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, it is snowing here, so no jaunts out for either of us today. No problem, we are warm and dry with food in the fridge.

I have my appointment for my MRI scan, 24th so that's fine, will need to get my big girls knickers on, they will be turning my pacemaker off for a couple of hours.

Found a day bed on the local gumtree site, we are going to look at it sometime over the weekend. If it's ok it will save me quite a bit of cash, even if I have to buy a new mattress.
  • Morning all

I thought we had escaped here in MK but, no, the snow started about 40 minutes ago and is now settling on the ground. I've mentally postponed my supermarket trip until tomorrow but may walk up into town for a newspaper later if it's no worse. We are expecting friends up from Surrey today so I'll wait and see if I hear anything from them. If not we'll carry on as usual and see if the doorbell rings.

Made a whole tray of Mocha Squares yesterday; they are cut up and boxed ready for tomorrow's party, if we go. If not I find they freeze really well so we won't have to eat them all at once!

Quiche, jacket potato and salad planned for dinner tonight and I've defrosted some plums from the garden. DH would like them in a crumble but I'm happy just to eat them as they are, maybe with a bit of ice cream or mascarpone.

Dumpling - you sound so positive about your shopping trip and I hope it goes well.

    Stay safe xx

Hugs to Lainey and all those who are struggling at the moment
Its chilly here but the snow has virtually gone just a bit icy on the pavements. Need to take my mum to the hospital for her pre op and then am coming home to stay in the warm . Dolly liked the snow on the field and she is gaining in confidence every day but still barks with other dogs . I have a feeling she has the tail ends of kennel cough so we are staying away from dog walking group as 1 dog is very elderly and 1 has some health issues they did warn us at dogs trust that they may have it
Right fish n chips for tea
Have a great day whatever you are up to

    Morning everyone

We didn't have any snow first thing, but then as I was getting ready to go to do the food shopping, it started - and it has been snowing steady since 7.30am but it's very wet underfoot and not laying in most places. Just looking out of the window now it has stopped, hopefully that will be it, but if it freezes now everywhere will be treacherous - I'm only going to take DS2 to the cinema at lunchtime as he's meeting his friends to watch a film, he will then walk home afterwards.

I've just tallied up my shopping spends and it still seems alot of money for what I had, as I'm doing dry January so there was no wine at all just x2 bottles bitter for DH, but it is a lot less than I have been spending, and I have a menu plan that was written before shopping, so all should be ok. I think my problem is that all the menfolk here have large appetites - so I should be catering for 3 adult men and myself - but really I'm catering for 4 adult men and myself! I did also treat myself to a couple of sunflower seed brown rolls from the instore bakery to have with my HM roasted sweet potato and carrot soup - had a fancy yesterday to making soup so it would be ready for me to have today and tomorrow - there's enough if the menfolk want some, but DS2 doesn't like any kind of soup, so he won't want any - I'm hoping the others don't either to be honest! It's so delicious.

    Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums started to snow lightly here about half an hour a go and hopefully will not settle much as its really that wet slushy stuff thank goodness (at this point I am crossing my fingers and touching wood)

I slid across to do a small shop this morning of essentials, I only happily spent only £13.94 which I was pleased with as its only my second food shop this month.

In with that I had two good sized Y/S turkey steaks which I have just floured, egged, and instead of breadcrumbs, coated in some dried stuffing which is a bit more interesting than bland breadcrumbs, and have now wrapped them in cling film and frozen one and the other one I will have for dinner tonight .

As they, were £1.80 I am quite pleased as it means a very inexpensive dinner for me ,with only some already in stock veg to use up :) My kind of meal :)

So no more food shopping for me for at least another week to ten days My food purse will have left overs this month I think which will be swept into my holiday account .

Eating from the freezer is working well this month.:)

Hope you are all safe and sound and <<hugs >> to those who need one
Take care all, love to Lainey and all who are struggling at the moment
    Cheers chums

P.S.Dumpling well done and get out there girl xx

History this afternoon I think we are finding out about the explorer Ernest Shackleton which given the weather is apt :):):)
  • Morning all x
Well it snowed here in mk for a while and now nothing. Apart from a little on the grass in the garden it's all gone.
Went down to local shop to get some bits in the middle of the heavy snow (like a challenge lol) and knocked on my elderly neighbours door to see if they wanted anything. She did so ended up getting her milk (that's my good deed done so now I can be as evil as I like lol)
DW done. WM done 1 load and another in there now. Should all be done by 1 hopefully so when DH gets home I can go out with him to town.
Applied for 2 jobs yesterday only part time work but that's all I want at the mo until I feel up to it
DD1 has had problems with her heating so have a mate who is an gas engineer on standby.
Dinner tonight is burgers and sweet potato fries as we have been good all week so in need of a cheat night.
    Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx
  • Morning all, the overnight and early morning snow has melted mostly and we have a clear blue sky, rather chilly.
I've cleaned a bit, mucked out the bathroom, had a shower and have beef defrosting for a casserole.
I'm planning to spend most of the afternoon knittng little animals, a farm set for my friend's granddaughter. So far I have a male and a female farmer (they took a while because of their clothes etc.) Also a collie, a cat, a Cockerel, a hen and some eggs, a fox and three quarters of a big pig. I need to finish big piggy, make a piglet or three, do some lambs, a horse and a cow and I think that's the full set.
I have no plans other than that, I do like not having plans.
    Sending loving thoughts to LaineyT..
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning. Gloriously crisp and sunny this morning. Very icy underfoot though. I had to bite the bullet and open my wallet this morning - winter tyres. Too much skidding and sliding in the snow yesterday and I knew my front tyres were near the limit any way.

Ouch. Beans on toast for the rest of the month:rotfl:

Be careful Gers there are some treacherous points.

Glad you got home safely Jackie

Thoughts with Lainey and anyone else needing (hugs), sticks or spoons.

  • Hi again. Well I have decided to write today off and pretend tomorrow is today and postpone the Friday clean round a day!

We will be too busy running dad's taxi service most of the day in view of DD's car not going anywhere at 6.15!! We eventually got the 3 DGDs to school, albeit a bit late. Both schools texted DD to say they would be open but would make allowances for the latecomers struggling in from the outlying areas (that'd be us then!!)

Middle DGD is to pick back up at 12.00 and deliver to a chaperone as she is performing in both the matinee and evening performances of the panto today. Then DD is to pick up from work at 2.30, eldest DGD to pick up at 3.00 and youngest at 3.15. Then the rest of the day is ours!

The steep main road up here is now clear and the gritters have been along our road so that's on the verge of clearing. The pavements and gardens have quite a deep covering on them which will take some melting as it's bitter cold!! Oh I hate winter!

Lunch is an easy one as there is some of last night's huge bolognese bake left over to warm up. Not given a thought to what we are eating tonight but will unearth something easy from the freezer.

Hope everyone is safe and (((HUGS))) to all the poorlies. Much love to LAINEY. Take care all xx

    Morning all,

We had snow overnight,it had started when DH was walking home from his pub quiz night,he nearly bumped into a fox outside, don't know who was more startled :D Its a bitter wind but clear so hope it doesnt freeze later. Ly1a loves the snow Tru ,she rolls around in it like she's making snow angel dogs- very big ones :rotfl:I nearly came unstuck as I got down the hill and there was a concrete mixer at the front, she wanted to bolt for the front garden and I had a job keeping hold of her and me upright, big wuss.

Last night made a curry from Tuesdays l o roast chicken and 2 small tubs of sauce left over from a takeaway that I froze ages ago.Chicken and veg soup for my dinner ( as we say oop North) shortly and some to freeze, not bad from a £3 chicken I got off the market. Not sure about tea yet but both DGC will be here.
I am going upstairs to get my sewing machine out,I have a few mending /alteration jobs, and I've just finished a crochet cowl neckwarmer so need to sew a button on it.I'm quite pleased as I actually used a different stitch, only tend to use trebles.I had to persevere until it suddenly 'clicked'.Might look through my stitch book and find another to try-I've loads of odd balls from making my original blanket.

Hugs for Lainey, been thinking of you and DM, and anyone else in need.
    Yay,go Dumpling! Youre doing great.
Hope you all have a good day xx
