Environmental Hazardous symbol on Tanker
Have been driving a tanker with no environmental hazardous signs on it (the one with the fish)
Work have been saying for ages that they will sort it but haven't
I was told today if I was stopped for it I can be fined and not the company as it shouldn't be on the road without it
Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not as I don't want to go in there and find out I was wrong!!

If you are driving a tanker full of environmentally dangerous goods I would have thought that you would have been on a course, i understand that small quantities are exempt from the rules though.0

Sounds like a real cowboy outfit, are you sure they have a licence to handle hazardous materials? Not only is it the responsibility of the company to ensure regulations are being met, it is also the responsibility of you, the driver to ensure the correct signs are displayed, those signs are there so the emergency services immediately know exactly what they are dealing with should there be an incident.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Thats the issue with a lot of driving jobs. Not matter how bad the company and how many laws they flout, quite often you as the driver suffer the most.

It isn't something that is covered under the driving test so why would s/he?
If the goods fall under ADR, which they may be Class 9 and do so, then his company should proved the appropriate training.
What I suggest you do OP, is go over to Trucknet, ask there and Diesel Dave will answer at some point - as an ADR trainer he's a good source of industry specific knowledge.

You don't need a license to transport hazardous materials, though the people in the office should have appropriate training and the company should have an appointed DGSA. They may need a Waste Carriers License if it's a waste product.
We move haz material and we don't need a license to do so, though we do need to supply the drivers with training, PPE etc, which would include signs when the limits kick in. I have done the last two audits by the DfT for carriers of HCDG, so I'm pretty confident on that one.
