SE 500i Recall?

Enquired about a SE500i for my daughter with DAP and was told they are being recalled because of a battery fault. Anyone know about this?

i know SE have had a problem with the keys cracking on the S500i, but i haven't heard anything about a battery recall (the most recent one i know of was the nokia battery recall)

I haven't heard about a recall on the battery but did they actually agree a recall on the cracked keypad problem? ALL my digits (bar 2) on the pad cracked in the first month of having the phone. I contacted SE and they said not a manufacturing fault and therefore not covered by warranty. One of the keys that cracked I hadn't even pressed! Soo disappointed with Sony Ericsson because of this, especially as I though they would pride themselves on producing good quality as have had great phones with them in the past.
If you do go for an S500i make sure it is one of the yellow ones. Apparently the keypad is made differently (hmm..since there were more than the odd few problems perhaps with the green ones? Not misuse then?!)

The key cracking problem is well known on the S500i and the similar W580i.

I was looking in shops today and there are not so many of these available, which is surprising as they are the first of a new generation design of SE phones. I wonder if the shops are awaiting new batches of non-faulty models.

Saw a few green S500i phones, and white W580i phones, but not so many of the other colours. I wonder if these are all old batches which still have the keypad problem.
