I use a Wok and a stick blender for soup making.0

Pressure cooker for chicken stock in half an hour - a good base makes a difference. Stick blender if a soup needs to be smooth. Making husbands carrot and cumin soup takes half an hour max whilst minestrone takes hours (and I have to remember to soak the beans overnight).
I've got cupboards and drawers full of pans, utensils and gadgets but I can't see a soup maker ever being purchased.0 -
As others have said the 2l relates to the overall capacity and not the amount of soup you can make.
I have a milk frothing jug, it will hold a maximum of 680ml of liquid but the markers only go up to 480ml with a couple of inches of space above however you can't use it to steam/froth 480ml of milk because it almost doubles in volume so would overflow. I usually steam anywhere from the 240ml marker up to the 360ml marker as cold milk depending on how much I need when frothed it is always well over the 400 mark and with the 360ml it is right to the top of the just threatening to overflow.
It doesn't mean the jug was mis-advertised in any way, it has the physical capacity to hold as much liquid as advertised but certainly not to be able to the froth the full capacities worth. And it came in handy when I made a large pot of tea for visitors last week and had I a nice sized jug to also serve the milk so they could make it the way they liked instead of me botching it for them.0 -
I love my soup maker (Morphy Richards), use it 2-3 times a week. I agree you can do the same thing with a pan/blender but I like being able to shove the ingredients in and just leave it until it's done (21 mins for smooth, 28 mins for chunky). No stirring etc. I'll be doing some spicy butternut squash soup shortly.0
