Aldi Soup Maker Warning

The soup maker will only produce 1 litre of soup, not the 2 litres described on the box: ‘2L capacity lets you make enough soup or your favourite smoothie for the whole family to enjoy.’ The maximum soup line is 1 litre. The overall maximum for cold liquid is 1.5 litre. It does nothing at 2 litres. I measured the volume with water and a measuring jug– not rocket science. The lid is far too tight as well. I rang Aldi customer services and told them that the product was being mis-sold, and that they should remove it from the shelves. I also wrote a review on website. Aldi emailed back to say nobody else has complained about the product. That does not alter the fact the soup maker only makes half the soup advertised on the box.

Going on the wording of the OP's post, the box doesn't claim that it makes 2 litres of soup; just that it has a 2 litre capacity.

Obviously the ingredients for 1 litre of soup would need more space before they are blended or pureed.
  • Just make the soup twice as concentrated and dilute it. I do this even in an ordinary pot as it avoids splashing and spillage mess.

Yes but is is misleading in my opinion. It should state how much soup it actually makes.

Is a soup maker really worth it?

It takes no time at all to do in a pan on the hob and then blitz with a hand blender.

We often make soup. Just chop up vegetables, throw them in the pan to cook and you have soup.
As POPPYOSCAR says, you can blitz it afterwards if you want it smooth.
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.
  • And you can make as little or as much as you like.
When we were seriously into growing our own vegetables, we often made as much as a gallon and then froze it into portions. At least, that was the plan, but sometimes we nearly ate the lot as it was so nice...

Mine (a Cuisinart ) has been used just once. It was bought to use up some expiring gift vouchers, so an impulse buy. (I was disappointed, as the tomato soup just tasted of tinned tomatoes with added liquid. My fault, I know, but you still have to chop the veg, as the blades only puree, so you are really just saved stirring time.)

OP hasn't posted a link but I can't find any of the Aldi models that claim to make 2l of soup. Some hold 2l, but that is for their other functions such as smoothies.

It would be helpful if OP could come back and point us to the correct model, it's not the current one on their website.

I love my Russell Hobbs one, it cooks the soup/ veg and then blends it. It cost me £35 and I've had it four years now.
