British Gas Smart Link Thermostat

Not sure I'm in the correct forum but I've just moved in to a house (purchase) and the thermostat is a mystery to me! I can get it to turn on by pressing the + key and selecting a temperature and then taking the batteries out to turn it off. But it seems to turn on randomly in the morning (hence why I'm taking the batteries out when I go to bed). It was run on wifi and mine should be connecting tomorrow. BG said 'we cannot give you any advise on how to work their thermostat when I signed up with them (might be there standard customer service) but I wondered if anyone could help. I couldn't arrange a service until I have a fixed loft ladder installed as the boiler is in the loft. I'm working on that but it will be a week/two weeks. Can anyone assist? Thanks so much if you can! Please let me know if I've not been explanatory enough.

Googling seems to bring up a lot of results, including a pdf instruction manual - is none of that helpful? If not you might need to include some pics!

Sounds like the one I have. Google the model and you'll find the manual although it's pretty tricky to read though.

In the meantime, you might be able to switch it off by holding + and - together for about 10 seconds. This'll save you taking batteries out until you learn to programme properly.
