'I have a buyer for your home' letter...

We found a buyer for our previous home. The only reason he ended up not buying was nothing to do with the house or EA, so occasionally it does all work out.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I've also had a letter, hinting that Mr & Mrs Middleton are interested in buying my house ... clearly aimed at sucking people like me in to believing that these people would choose to own my house. Normally letters just say "Mr & Mrs M".
The letterbox is by the bin, which saves me time.0 -
Thank you all for replies.
In terms of the addressing part, I guess that was quite vague. I mean it had our address on it, as opposed to a generic 'dear homeowner' letter. Which means nothing, ultimately. I'll give them another call, possibly speak to the manager and see what comes of it.0 -
Be wary.
I had several notes through my door saying 'I have a buyer for you' when my house was on the market.
I called one and said "I assume that if you have a buyer then you have already tried calling my selling agent, whose details are shown clearly on the board outside my house and also online. Please take it up with them".
They then did call my estate agent, and told them: "we have permission from the seller to take pictures and start marketing the property to prospective buyers - can we arrange to pick up the keys tomorrow?!"
Needless to say this didn't happen, the buyer-in-waiting didn't appear, and I told them where to go. This was from a well-known chain of national high-street agents.0 -

What is the name of the company? You can probably find out something about them via google.0 -
It sounds improbable and it's most likely a marketing tactic. One slender possibility is that cash in the bank loses money if inflation outpaces rates of interest: it could be a cash investor looking to the bricks and mortar alternative.
Keep your eyes wide open!

The old saying comes to mind " if too good to be true it probably is".0

No chance. There's no way this sort of crowd will pay above market value. Their margin has to come from somewhere....0

I used to get so many of these letters as a tenant; I would chuck them away.
There used to be a bin near the main entry door of the building and it was full of these letters!EU expat working in London0 -
