Using 3 mobile to call a USA number in the USA
Options
I would like to know about the cost of using 3 mobile to call a USA number whilst being in the USA. A number of us will be travelling to the USA in a few weeks time and intend buying a 3 add-on before we go. Presumably, this would allow us to call each other within the USA with the cost simply coming out of the add-on.
However, I'm not sure about the cost of calling somebody who has either a US landline or US mobile. Would calling a US number also come out of this add-on allowance or would it be much more expensive - I've seen a table which lists calling a US number in the USA as £1.40 per minute.
Can someone please clarify this situation.
Thanks

Calling a US number doesn't come out of the allowance. I can't remember how much. I know I burned through £20 in a couple of hours when I needed to rebook some flights while over there, so it's not cheap!0

You need to tell us what sort of contract you have - or are you on PAYG?
Three's 'feel at home' works in america for the same price as using your phone at home as long as you aren't on a new contract who's name I don't recall.0 -

Not sure that's completely correct? We were there in August/ September and there were £0.00 charges added to our bill (we are all on 3 as we travel quite a bit). Did you dial USA non-geo cli's?
Where there was no reception but there was Wi-Fi we used Hangouts enabling free calls to USA numbers (we use that here as well for calling USA numbers).

I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
Described as 'Like at Home' a call to a US number from the US is best made from a pay phone unless you can use a WiFi alternative. You will be billed as if you made the call from the UK and isn't cheap.0
