i' m off to Florida in April so also need dollars
this is only my opinion having read a little on the net in the last couple of days.
i think that generally speaking (er reading)that the dollar may fall on 20th or 21st Jan' as traders worldwide may be somewhat nervous / cautious due to Trump and his way of thinking.
Up to you, but obviously all traders know the date of his inauguration so any impact of that on the exchange rate is already priced in. The rate will change in response to anything that was not previously known.

But Mr Phatbear sir, in the latest thread you have now specified this morning before 10:30 as the time to buy dollars. Those of us who totally rely on your inside information may become a little bemused...

Those that dont have a clue should have bought them yesterday, (9th Jan)
Those that think they know better bought them two days ago. (8th Jan) at 1.226
(This quote was dated 10th Jan)
I will certainly NOT be buying them at 10.30 today
As for the 3rd Feb......the jury is still out.

  • I know these things tend to be cyclical (although no one knows for sure) but I can't see myself going to the US for a few years at these exchange rates.

It's somewhat ironic that Norwegian have been selling rtn flights to Boston for less than £200 when the exchange rate is through the floor.

Remember the days 6 or 7 years ago when you could get $2 to the pound. I knew at the time I should've stocked up as I go every year. If only I'd had the funds at my disposal!!

I'm going back to the US in July and I'll be buying dollars shortly before I go (unless something major and unexpected happens to swing the rate favourably before then) but getting most of my cash from ATMs through my Clarity card.
