HI, I am looking to cancel my BT broadband and TV to save some money. Will my youview box still work if I move to another provider for just Broadband as I dont really want to have to pay an upfront cost to another provider for a new box. Meaning I can subscribe to broadband only, not broadband and tv. BT are telling me the box wont work without their broadband but pretty sure thats not right.
Thanks in advance

You will be able to receive all terrestrial channels but none streamed over the internet such as BT Sport.0

Standalone broadband is expensive. The deals come with line and broadband together.0

As above Freeview over your aerial will work but non of the internet services from BT TV .
Not 100% sure if its a recording box if it will play back .0 -
Can confirm it will work as a standalone PVR for Freeview channels. The Youtube and Netflix apps will still work. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Unless it's live sport you are after, everything you desire to watch on TV is available via the Internet, usually via Bittorrent, and this includes a great deal of sport hosted after the games finish - all you need is a decent laptop or PC linked to your TV via HDMI Out or an intranet wireless connection. As others have noted, Freeview has a great deal on it, as does Now TV, but all US shows are available straight after they have aired in the USA, the same is true of British TV - I use a Seedbox for my torrenting needs, they cost from about 5 quid a month to hire, thus evading any concerns about downloading from most Bittorrent sites. A decent 17Mb connection is all you need, ensuring you can DL a DVD of data every hour - I usually DL SD, but HD always available.
Again, and unless you are into live Sport, I'm not sure why anyone subscribes to expensive TV packages, better off saving the money and paying for a phone and fibre connection, which can be had for approx £25 a month when on offer.0
