Restarting an LLU line for £49.99

Transfers from other BT resellers or LLUs are free, restarting a stopped BT line is free.
A new line or restarting an LLU line costs £49.99.

Am not really sure what the above means but if I downgrade from BT Infinity Fibre to Plusnet standard broadband, does that require an engineer visit and £49.99 fee?

Thanks

'Restarting' suggests that the line was ceased, as opposed to taking a migration, but ask PlusNet (if you can get through). Online new customer enquiries appear to have priority, though, so are a little faster.
  • You only need to restart a line if it was an active line that had been ceased, perhaps by the previous occupant.

If you still have a live line in to the property you should not need to pay £49.99.

...but there is physical engineering work required to disconnect you from the fibre cab and reinstall on the "old" system, so suspect that it is chargeable.

The charge will be to swap the line routing out of the fibre cabinet.

Thank you. Also 3 replies on live chat today when asking about downgrading to standard broadband:

Plusnet agent 1: You would have to pay £49.99 installation fee if you do this.
Plusnet agent 2: You would lose your phone number if you do this [no charge mentioned]
EE: No engineer visit is needed, no fee
