UKPC ticket unusual one ????

hi all
new to the forum and after a bit of help/advise please .
Ive been reading through the newbies section but not sure were i stand as my situation seems a little different .

Basically a ticket from ukpc was placed on my windscreen, the car was parked on a roadside next to a carpark, now there's signs on the carpark and also signs along the roadside (it must be a private road) the CARPARK signs states £100 charge reduced to £60 the other info on the sign includes disabled badge only in disabled bays , all vechiles parked within bay and max 3hr stay.

The signs on the ROADSIDE state £70 charge reduced to 40, again the other info on the roadside sign states no roadway parking, no parking on red/yellow lines and no parking on pavments.

The car was parked on the roadside NOT the carpark, the car was also parked next to a £70 roadside sign but my ticket is for £100, the ticket also states "parked on roadway".
Was kind of hoping the fact that they have charged the wrong amount and not what the signs stated would automatically void it maybe a breach of contract or something .

The signs are barley visible anyway and not illuminated at all, the carpark has been unused for nearly a year and only recently have the ukpc signs appeared. Ive taken photos of all the signs including the carpark ones and roadside but not sure what route to take next.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated
many thanks

Appeal to UKPC as per the newbies sticky template around day 26. Beat this at POPLA. Signage purportedly forms the basis of the contract, so what the signs say is important. Do you have photographs? Otherwise you're snatching at gnats in trying to persuade POPLA on the basis you outline above. Get some photos if you're near enough.

Can you show us those photos please? Host them in Dropbox or using tinypic or photobucket, and change the URL of the link to 'hxxp' instead of 'http' to break the link (because you are a newbie you can't yet post a working link).

This one could be good for a complaint to the DVLA. Never mind the BPA, we need to keep up complaints to the DVLA and this one seems possible to drop UKPC right in it. Issuing a PCN for £100 where the sign says £70. Hmmmm...!

  • sorry for the poor grammar its definetly not one of my strong points - i have the GSCE to prove it. haha

Just had to watch a video on youtube about dropbox and hoping this link will send you to the carpark and roadsign photos.

All the £100 ones are ON the actual carpark and the £70 ones where on the surrounding road which is where the car was parked.

Again sorry for the first post. Is it worth me editing it?

    Many Thanks

So your car was parked there where the sign (in tiny writing) says £70, and yet the PCN was for £100.

I would go straight for a DVLA complaint:

    david.dunford@dvla.gsi.gov.uk

And copy in the BPA because if you don't, the DVLA might fob you off there anyway:

    aos@britishparking.co.uk

Demand to know how this is being allowed to continue so soon after UKPC were banned for altering photos. Are they not being specially audited and scrutinised; if they are, what has gone wrong?

Show us your complaint email BEFORE you send it. We will help make it hit home. Do not say who parked the car. You can use your words from here because this does not imply the driver, but you need to word the email in true 'complaint mode':
A ticket from UKPC was placed on my windscreen, the car was parked on a roadside next to a carpark. There are signs on the carpark and also signs along the roadside (it must be a private road) and they differ in detail and parking charge amount.

The CAR PARK signs state (in minuscule font) '£100 charge reduced to £60'. The other info on that sign includes 'disabled badge only in disabled bays, all vehicles parked within bay and max 3hr stay' so clearly that sign relates to the car park bays.

The signs on the ROADSIDE state in astonishing tiny font: '£70 charge reduced to £40'.

The car was parked on the roadside NOT the car park, the car was parked next to a £70 sign but a PCN has been issued for £100. The signs are barely visible anyway and not illuminated at all, the car park has been unused for nearly a year and only recently have the UKPC signs appeared. I've taken photos of all the signs including the car park ones and roadside.

Add that fact into the complaint email, as UKPC might well be ordered to cancel those too. This could be a final straw for UKPC and it is vital to make these complaints about rogue ticketing.

I can't look at your pics until later but another poster here will, I'm sure.
