What happens if I ignore smart parking ticket?

I got a ticket from smart parking. I parked my car and didnt have any change for the parking machine so went looking for a cash machine. I could not see one so I moved my car. The ticket said I was there for 12 mins. The company was smart parking.
I frist tried to deal with the ticket through reslover - I didnt say who was driving the car, just that the registered owner my huby was not driving. I was then told to email, I did and they replied saying we need to pay the full amount. I got a second letter through saying I need to pay the full amount due to not paying within 14 days of the ticket.
What happens if I ignore it? Will it go away?

if you appealed and they refused it they should have given you a popla code (if this was in england or wales)
the NEWBIES sticky thread tells you how this SHOULD have been done and as you have been here nearly 2 years you should have checked the thread by COUPON-MAD as soon as it arrived
SMART have 6 years to try a court case (MCOL) in the small claims court , so you potentially face 6 years of debt collector letters and threats
it only "goes away" after 6 years !!!
nobody can tell you what will happen, its the future and unknown
they may do as in the past and not go to court
they WILL pass it to debt collectors who will harass you by mail
but they may suddenly start issuing court claims like many others have done , so no guarantees, plus court is a lottery too0 -

Surely you are at POPLA stage with a POPLA code, where the registered keeper now wins by using the template appeal points from the NEWBIES thread post #3. So why don't you just kill it stone dead that way?
Smart are so easy to beat at POPLA using the right wording, you would have to try extremely hard to lose this one as long as the driver is never identified or implied.
Who has the POPLA code in their name, your husband the registered keeper? Or you, the appellant who never said who was driving (we hope) - i.e. you were the 'keeper'. This really should have been appealed in his name all along.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Past performance is no guarantee of future performance. 6 years is a long time to find out, as many victims are now discovering. Get the popla code and kill it.0 -
I used the template and got this back today -
Thank you for your recent communication.
As per the British Parking Association code of practice (paragraph 22.7), all appeals must be submitted to us within 28 days of the Notice to Keeper being issued. Due to the length of time your PCN has been open, we have now referred this to a debt recovery company (Debt Recovery Plus) who are handling the matter on our behalf. Please contact them directly if you wish to discuss this further.

Yours Sincerely

What should I do?
I also notice on other thread something called a grace period. The car was in the car park for 12 minutes. I read on other threads are two grace periods - one as you park and one when you leave. The second one should be a min of 10 mins. Surely, the car was in the car park for not more than the grace period? They haven't given me a POPLA code:(:(

if this was appealed direct to SMART PARKING within the required 28 days (as detailed above) , then email aos at the BPA and give them unredacted copies of the NTK, the initial appeal , a timeline on the dates including the first appeal date , and copies of the DRP letters and the responses so far
complain about the lack of a POPLA code if it was appealed within 28 days to SMART
if it was appealed AFTER the 28 days , there is nothing you can do as its at debt collector stage and the appeal stage "timed out"
so a timeline and dates and copies of any appeal are crucial here
IGNORE the debt collectors , they are powerless0 -

So who did you appeal to and when if not the parking scammers? Who or what is reslover, or should that be resolver?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
If you really have missed the 28 day deadline, the reality is you are not going to get a POPLA code. You just have to ride out the debt collector letters (they can only send letters, maybe a phone call, but nothing else).
The letters will arrive about once a month for about 6 months, then they will fade out. But expect them having a further go at any time over the next 6 years. Smart have 6 years to pursue this to court, but despite being probably the second largest PPC in the country (over half a million tickets issued in the past 2 years), they have never once taken a motorist to court. However, it's not possible to guarantee they won't change their strategy between now and 2022.

If the 28 days for appeal have not lapsed you need to complain to the BPA - come back for more advice if this is the case. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
