Car recommendations - large boot

This may seem an odd request but here goes!
I will be looking to buy a new (to me, not brand new) car in the next few months. I don't particularly want a big car, but I need a boot that is quite high in order to transport the dog safely in the boot. Essentially a small hatchback is fine BUT we need a higher boot roof, as the dog detests a sloping roof. I realise this is slightly odd in a list of requirements, but there you go..
So far the only car I've found that meets the requirements is a Citroen C3 Picasso. I see lots of SUVs but they're generally more than I want to spend. We don't actually need a big car, just a more angular boot. Currently have a Kia Ceed which is fine in terms of passenger space, just not the boot.
Thanks.

Skoda Yeti, Citroen Berlingo, Mercedes B class, BMW 2 series sports tourer, Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, Honda Jazz and I'm sure there are more.0

Thanks for all the recommendations. Off to google.
Never thought my car choices would be based on a 20kg hairy beast rather than kids/travel etc but there you go!0 -
Renault Clio Estate?0

If you don't want a big car I wouldn't recommend an estate.
Quite a few MPV type small cars around that have the tall boot space you need. Skoda roomster and Kia Soul are two off the top of my head.0 -
Have a look at a skoda roomster. You can even take the back seats out if the dog needs more room. Only the size of a medium hatchback and quite narrow.0

What type of dog is it? I have a friend who had a greyhound and I was surprised at the amount of space their Honda Jazz despite the small exterior space particularly for height which was better than my estate.
The Yeti also looks good for height at the back although never used one apart from chucking bikes in it.

I have the old Nissan Note (e11 model) this has a square back and almost vertical tailgate. 2006-20012 I think
The Corsa -C was the same
Quite why new cars seem to have a small round letterbox back door I can't imagine, as you'd struggle to get a washing machine in one.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Is the kia ceed an estate? Our 30kg dog was happy in the boot of ours.
We've got a Nissan Note now too, and if you move the rear seat forward, its adequate for the dog too.0
