Scottish Power or Iresa?

Welcome to the forum.
If you were billed for an Imperial meter, yet have a metric meter, the case should be 'cut and dried', So for what reason has it gone to the Ombudsman?0 -
Changed from Scottish Power in Nov 2016.
Was always in credit every month.
New supplier said they would pass final meter reading on - never worked.
Now being chased by Scottish Power for hundreds of pounds.
Have phoned - no use at all.
Have emailed - " will sort it out soon, you don't need to do anything"
Nothing further.
Now have debt collection agency phoning 5 or 6 times a day.
Any helpful suggestions ?
Thanks in advance,
Bob0 -
Credit means absolutely nothing unless it is based on a bill using actual meter readings. Do your own calculation to determine how much you owe.
The gaining supplier is responsible for all aspects of the switching process. All meter readings go to an industry third-party for verification and they are then passed back to your new and old suppliers to open and close your accounts. If this process hasn't happened, then why are you being chased for payment? Have you received a Final Bill?
Action: ring your new supplier and get confirmation that the meter readings have been passed on? If not, raise a formal complaint in writing. If they now have adjudicated readings then ask why they haven't been passed on. Who is your new supplier? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. So, I have been fighting with Scottish Power for 10 months as I discovered that they were billing me for an Imperial Gas meter when I actually have a metric meter.
I estimate that they owe me several thousands of pounds , it has been referred to the Ombudsman however they have not followed they instructions set by the Ombudsman and I feel like I'm hitting my head against a brick wall!
They also never reply to any emails apart from generic rubbish!
Has any one else had similar dealings with them? I am currently considering taking it to the small claims court.
Hi Kirsty S,
I'm sorry for the problems you are experiencing.
So I can escalate this matter to our Ombudsman team for them to look into further for you, could you possibly please provide your account or complaint number be email to social@scottishpower.com?
Kind regards

Send them a Letter before Action setting out the amount that you intend to claim with supporting evidence including The Ombudsman's judgement. If it goes to Court, I doubt that the supplier will even turn up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi Bob Bridges,
Have you received a final invoice from ScottishPower up to the date your supply transferred to your new energy provider? If so, are the readings on the final bill the same readings you gave to the new supplier for the supply transfer date?
I have provided a link from our website below which gives you information on the switching process

If you would like me to look into this further for you please email your ScottishPower account number to social@scottishpower.com.
Kind regards

After a few more emails - things are now sorted.
Scottish Power have said they have got it wrong and they now owe me money that was in my account. This has only taken 2 months.
I know - it was a shock to me too.
The key to this success was emailing the CEO
neil.clitheroe @scottishpower.com
I found this via CEOmail website - many thanks to them.
I cannot stress too highly AVOID - it's been a real pain.

Why don`t you expose them then and stop making ill advised comments on these boards.
In fact if what you say is true, it`s your duty to send all the evidence and get them jailed.
I`ll watch for the case coming to court with interest.;)0
