Unfortunately that's the way eBay works. Yes, it sucks, but there's nothing you can do about it.

Whenever I send something "signed for", I check the tracking after a week, and if a delivery has been attempted while the buyer isn't home, I send them a polite message reminding them that it is awaiting collection. If no reply after a few days then I use the Royal Mail website myself, to arrange a redelivery, telling them to leave it with a neighbour if required.

and if a seller did that to me they would earn themselves a big fat negative.

I don't live on eBay and I could be in Dublin or somewhere with work.

I am surprised that any buyer that would punish a seller for trying to help, I think it just shows how much sellers are up against now.

I totally do not understand the attitude that a buyer does not have any responsibility in any way for the delivery of an item.

If you know that you will be away it's do not order..

If it's a "sudden event" surely you arrange with a friend / family member to clear the porch / mailbox / check the house etc. It's all part & parcel of life.

Any serial neggers like you who buy my stuff have their money refunded, order cancelled due to 'issues with buyer address', and have their ebay ID and paypal email added to my BBL.

I've said it on several threads- the only useful buyer feedback is the 'feedback left for others'. If I get an offer in on anything (I have a lot of my BINs with best offer enabled) the first thing I do is check the buyers feedback left for others. A history of daft or whiney non positives there would get the buyer blocked immediately.

I sort of agree with him. Whilst I wouldn't neg, and I wouldn't mind a reminder email, if the seller arranged redelivery themselves I would not be happy at all. It can take me up to 2 weeks to collect from the depot because I'm so busy and I'd be annoyed at the seller interfering.

Try using click and collect from Argos/whoever. If your life is too busy to collect then simply do not order. A seller should not be punished for your busy lifestyle.
  • You get all sorts of characters on Ebay. I had a buyer once who missed delivery and as instructed by the courier it was left with a neighbor. It took a good week for the buyer to collect, because he doesn't know his neighbor that well. Seriously? Does it take that much effor to approach your neighbor for the parcel? So yes no suprises for me anymore
