Your fairly sure its number 2. But your just guessing.
I ordered a book, seller sent it recorded delivery the same day or the next day. A few days pass and i contacted the seller to ask when they will post it and an estimated delivery day, they said they posted it first class recorded and it was at my local depot.
Goto my local depot and the item is not there, Contacted the seller and they said they will look into it. Next morning a message from the seller the item has been returned. So within 7 days its been posted and supposedly a failed delivery and returned within 7 days, where they are supposed to keep the failed items for 7 days. How did it manage to get back within the 7 day timeframe?
If its an item they are not in a rush for then whats the rush to chase it up? I order stuff well in advance of my next project. Gives it time for everything to arrive.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Maybe I am just guessing but the auction ended on 4th December and I posted it on 6th December and never heard one word from the buyer until 8th JANUARY ! A full 35 days after the auction ended , which is an awful long time for something to be forgotten .
I've had a couple of things that I've bought that I had to contact the seller but I did this after about 7-10 days and not 5 weeks.
The notes showed that no one collected the parcel from the parcelforce depot . They probably changed their mind or just couldn't be bothered to go to the depot but that decision leaves me to pick up the cost unfortunately0 -

I posted something once that got returned. Never heard a word from the buyer. The site has closed now, but they had a few years previously to contact me! Sometimes things get forgotten.
35 days isn't that long really when it's over Christmas. No post on Sunday, things slow over Christmas so generally waiting longer for items, no post for a few days at Christmas and New Year.
Then on top of that you probably have multiple deliveries, sorting out all Christmas presents (easy to forget one or two especially if unorganised and/or buying a lot), going out and buying presents, trying to remember everything for Christmas, probably working up til Christmas, possibly going away around or for Christmas (and that involves being busy packing and remembering everything for that) and then day to day things as well.
You also have the "oh, I need to contact the seller about that...ugh, I'll do it later when I've got a moment" and then you end up doing something else and forgetting because there are other, possibly more important, things to be doing than going on ebay to contact a seller. Before you know it it's been 35 days.0 -
From November until now i have bought 132 items from ebay. Quite a bit from China.
Quite often i spot something and buy it and then forget, until i scroll down my items purchased list to see who i need to leave feedback.
I have 2 cases open at present. One where i bought 2 items but only received one, and another where it just didnt arrive. Seller has 30+ brand new negatives for items not received. Feedback was good before i bought it.
But your assuming that because you have a patient buyer its their fault? You would prefer a buyer that contacts you every 8 hours to say it has not arrived yet?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I think my point is that I would expect that the buyer who bought a steam wallpaper stripper would remember that they had bought it and would get in touch after a few days to see where it was . Patience didn't come into it , I think they knew they hadn't collected the item and contacted me when they thought it would have been returned , hence my annoyance.0 -

Maybe you wouldn't forget you'd bought it. Maybe you would make sure to contact the seller asap regardless of how busy you are. Maybe you wouldn't wait that bit longer, even at Christmas, to see whether the item arrived and was just delayed.
However, that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone else.
The keyword in there is think. You think they knew, you think they changed their minds, but the point is you don't know and it's possible that what you assume is not the case at all.
When it comes to ebay what you expect and what sometimes happens can be two very different things.0 -

Oh for heavens sake - - look waiting nearly 5 weeks for a parcel to arrive from the other side of the country without contacting the sender for an update just isn't 'normal' in anyone's world .
He didn't want it or he couldn't be bothered to go to pick it up so he thought it was ok to let me sort out the mess and take the hit financially .
He's got his money back now as my ten year perfect history with eBay was more important to me than the stupid antics of some time waster but I'm certainly not happy about it .0 -

Don't blame you not being happy. Buyers are not always "normal", neither are sellers or just people in general. You get many idiots, many very forgetful people, many very busy people and many, many people who will put Christmas and New Year before opening an ebay case for an item, especially if they're not in any rush for a refund/the item.
If it were any other time of the year it'd be a bit stranger, but even then you have no idea about the buyers life and their personal issues.0 -
Buyer could have gone abroad for a couple of weeks or more over the hols period - many people do - and thus forgotten about it or not had i*net access...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
