Will Changing to Fibre Interrupt Internect Access?

Options
I'm considering switching to fibre, but I'm wondering if the switch will cut off my internet for a week or so like when I moved house. Or does it connect straight away with no delays? I'm on TalkTalk.

Should be a momentary break at the exchange so no long outages

I changed from BT non-fibre to SKY fibre in October and the changeover was seemless.

There's usually 20-30 minutes of downtime while the engineer rearranges the connections in the local cabinet.

I had about 10 minutes or less of downtime going from ADSL to Fibre with BT.

With Plusnet, it was just overnight. I was on ADSL in the evening, went to bed, woke up in the morning, ADSL router showed no connection. Plugged in new VDSL router and away it went. No problems at all.

Mind you, there are some horror stories on here!

i seem to remember the engineer was there about an hour tweaking wiring in my flat and in the green cabinet outside but pretty seamless switchover - this was about 4 years ago

    One here:

I went from TT Fibre to Plusnet Fibre both using the same (my own) router, changed the log in details and had an intermittent connection for about one hour, then nothing for seven days. Apparently an issue with Plusnet's equipment at the exchange. Been fine ever since but just be aware it does not always go smoothly. The previous change from TT ADSL to TT Fibre went fine but took most of a day.
