To stop a rug from moving?

Can anyone recommend something decent to put under a rug to stop it moving?
We've a reasonably weighty rug in front of the fire but it's annoying in that no matter how much you pull it one way it always ends up shuffling over the other way as you walk on it.
I know you can google anti slip strips to put underneath but i'd bought some a while ago & they were pretty crap and i don't want to go buying this product, that product until i find one that works well enough. Wouldn't make me a MSE
So over to you guys...

stays in place even with a large labrador spinning round like a nutter on it!xxx Nikki xxx0 -
You can get rug underlay in Ikea. It's grey and comes in different sizes, which can be easily cut to size, and also very cheap.
Works like a charm. Sometimes it's difficult to move the rug on purpose now!0 -
Anti slip stuff in the pound shop, like a plasticy roll. Does the job superbly0

If you have a reasonably deep pile carpet then you will have trouble stopping rugs moving...I have tried many fixes and have now decided to live with the annoyance!0

Would help to have described what was under the rug or layers if more than one.
If over a carpet stitch it in place.0 -
If over carpet it is virtually impossible short of stitching as suggested above.0

Sorry yes it's on a carpet. Not on laminate or anything like that.0
