JL are good like that - nshame they didn't take the drive from the deodegy unit and put it in the replacement one.

If it happens again just switch to using an Amazon Fire stick and kodi. You can watch anything you want then by streaming.

It was a hard drive problem. No point.

You should read my sub or at least the thread, the bloooody hard disk was faulty, if they had done what you say his problem would remain.

The OP had the option to do data recovery before contacting JL.

I think it is great that JL replaced the unit, if you had gone to Currys they would have not given more than a year and they would not have honoured statutory rights (they are on radio every week or two for failing to do this). Also JL could have deducted cost that OP has already had versus expected lifetime of the product.

Another good reason to buy from JL.

Even it were possible to recover data it's just TV programmes, yes, I was attached to them but they're not that important.

JL give a two year warranty and this PVR was bought in December 2015. They also have an facility online which keeps all your receipts in an account so I just logged on in store. No problem.

As I can't watch TV upstairs without the box I'm even more pleased.

Thanks for all the good advice folks.
