Halifax / TSB / Lloyds / BOS - phone authentication

I added a new payee on TSB the other day and wasn't even asked to complete it!
Edit: This was via app but I'm sure that I've been asked to complete it via app before.
Yes- when you first set up the app you had to do the phone thing. This means that they now consider your app secure enough to make new payees.
HBOS/Lloyds/TSB is to my knowledge the only system that lets you set up payees with a single step like this (no, Smile/Co-op doesn't count, these are one off no-reference payments).0 -
Well at least i'm not alone

Regards the app, do you need a mobile signal? Or is it over WiFi?
With Santander i need a mobile signal which is a PITA at times because my signal at home is very hit & miss.0 -
I have BT landline and find that the phone rings once, pauses, then rings again - I always wait for the second ring.0
-
After first ring is fine.
It's when you answer within the first ring. Try it next time, stand by the landline, press submit on your laptop/tablet to generate the code and answer swiftly.
When I say 'after' first ring I mean as the first ring is sounding, however I will listen out next time I set up a payment.0 -

No, Lloyds based, Coop based, Barclays, HSBC based and Nationwide only need WiFi.
I'd be surprised if Santander really did need signal unless it's sending SMS messages, which it may do.0 -
Yes, I get this too.
Just set up a payee with the TSB this evening, and it did the same.
Left it a minute or too on the same 4 digit web screen and they phoned again.
It seems the quicker you answer the call the more likely it is dead..0 -
Yes - I get the same0

Yes, I get the same too, I haven't managed to get it successfully through to the landline for a long time, no matter how many rings I pick up after and I've never had it ring back either, there is just never anything at the other end of the line. I thought it was just me!
Do Lloyds group reps frequent this board? Definitely sounds like an issue they should be looking in to...0 -
Yes I have also had this. It is not just you!0

Better than Tesco's, which rattles through the code at the speed of light - not sure how a 90 year old would manage.0
