Another alternative troubleshooting method if you can use another pc is to download Hiren's Bootdisc and boot up from that. It's got loads of utilities. It's worth getting even if your pc is okay to use for a rainy day https://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcdYou know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I've rma'd the drive. Will update as soon as I receive the replacement for other's future reference.
If it is the SSD, not very inspiring that it only lasted 2 years.0 -
I used to use Hiren a lot but the programs are now so outdated they are mostly useless for RECOVERY as they do not recognise modern partitions.
Even then you have to stay at around 10.5, most of the utils after that are just linux based and hardly any use to windows users.
What they are good for is low level formatting and diagnosing hardware problems.
HOWEVER THEY ARE DESTRUCTIVE AND THE TESTS WILL OFTEN REMOVE ANY CHANCE OF DATA RECOVERY.
it's just one of a range of tools I keep handy, horses for courses and all that

Luffy321, before next time, make yourself a bootable mint linux usb/cd. You can use it to surf while your ssd is away. Also it will recognize the ssd, you can do a surface checks and some diags in linux. Even great as a virus checker, and it will remove virii from normally locked files too.
The other thing is that SSDs do not generally last as long as normal disks, but if you knock/vibrate a normal drive then SSd would be a better choice.0 -
Alright, the new drive arrived today and reinstalled win 7 fine. Data lost was minimal but still devastating. Oh well at least my computer is working again but now begins the arduous task of setting up everything the way it was before.
Thanks everyone for the help. I hope if someone else stumbles across this thread it will help them too.0 -
