Not-so-Easyjet

My daughter is flying to Berlin with her partner tomorrow afternoon from Bristol. When he made the booking, via Thomas Cook, he accidentally put my daughters name differently to how it reads on her passport, he wrote a shortened version instead of her actual name.
Thomas Cook advised him to buy her another ticket, which he did, directly from Easyjet at a cost of £109 and she has checked in online with that new ticket. When he tried to check himself in on the original joint booking, he had to provide her API again, with the incorrect name, as the Easyjet website wouldn't let him progress to his own check in without doing hers too. They spent ages hanging on to the live internet chat on the Easyjet site and the Easyjet facebook messenger for advice, without any reply at all, their customer service is shocking!
So, the bottom line is, my daughter has two boarding passes, one with her correct details and the other incorrect.
Their not looking for any money back and this has been a big lesson learned to check details correctly well in advance, but does anyone know whether when they get to the airport tomorrow, as long as she only uses the correct boarding pass will there be an issue? The incorrect one should just be a no show shouldn't it?

Have they heard of the telephone? I reckon Easyjet would have solved the initial error free of charge without the need for a new booking.
i doubt there'll be an issue at the airport. If there is, it will be resolved. Get there early just in case.0 -
Why did your daughters partner tick the box to say he was checking in for all passengers instead of just doing his own check in?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Easyjet are very easy. It's just someone decided to complicate it by involving an agent, who, surprise surprise gave out some very information. The name could have been changed online easily, if it had been booked direct. Also why did her partner opt to check in for both passengers, knowing that only one on that ticket was flying?0

Providing the 1st boarding card (with the wife's incorrect name) is not scanned at any point then 'she' will appear as a non-reporting passenger at the gate and the system will off load her. She can of course travel on the 2nd boarding card.
As others of said, your son-in-law should not have pressed the button to say he was checking in everyone on that 1st booking. Two black marks to him and I doubt he will be allocated holiday responsibilities again.
I would be a little worried about the baggage situation as if checking luggage the system will see your daughter as not reporting to travel and that will flag up an issue if any baggage has been linked to her within the booking. The bag doesn't travel.
As PeacefulWater's says, I would get to the airport early and speak the the EZY handling staff to explain what you are doing. They can amend in the system prior to the departure gate and make sure no issues with baggages occur.0 -
Re the title of this thread:Not-so-Easyjet
The OP's daughter and partner didn't actually have a contract with Easyjet.0 -
If the mistake was an obvious one (Jenny rather than Jennifer) EasyJet would have corrected it for a small admin fee.
You made a big mistake here by not just picking up the phone and speaking to them.0 -

I've done online name changes with Easyjet on a few occasions. Not because I'd misspelled a name but because someone in my party had dropped out and someone else wanted to come instead. So I was changing an entire name and not just a few letters.
There was a name change fee for each leg, plus a price adjustment, but it was cheaper than making a new booking.
I'm posting this to point out, as others have, that Easyjet are a good airline to deal with in my experience.0
