However I've looked at the licence website and it says you have to pay £24 a month for the first 6 months or something, then it drops down to £12. I don't understand why Can someone explain please.
Sorry to be dense Thanks.
No you are not dense, it is just another Rip Off from Crapita.
Basically they take your money over six months and then are using you as a bank, in month 7 you will have paid the annual fee in full, but then pay another £12 towards the next years bill.
My advice, DO NOT BOTHER.
Live TV and Iplayer is complete drivel
Alternatives that do not require a licence.
Get yourself a cheap £140 PC and use it as a Plex Server for your own content. Use laptop, TV, Ipad, Mobile as client.
Get Netflix for half the cost of the TV licence
Get Amazon Prime.
Remember to disable your TV from receiving live broadcasts and block iplayer url in your router
Do not let TVL Crapita into your home, do not even engage them, see the main TVL thread

In the interests of fairness, I should say that the installment regime is imposed upon the BBC by Legislation. The BBC then has Capita administer it.
Neither the BBC or Capita has the discretion to operate monthly payments in any other way.0 -
Thanks
I still hate them!
I can't wait until BBC is forced to use subscription and Crapita are given their marching orders. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0
