Is This EON plan expensive or not? Anything cheaper?

Hi,

Haven't a clue what's dear or cheap to be honest, have been reading for ages and getting nowhere so thought I'd ask here.

Needing to lower outgoings as much as possible at the moment. So was wondering if the EON tariff we're on is good or not? Please see below. And is there anything cheaper please?

EON energy plan Gas and Electricity.
Tariff comparison rate -
Gas: 4.48p/kWh
Electricity: 16.41p/kWh

It's about £119 per month for both on DD.

Really hoping that there's something cheaper and it's not too much of a hassle to switch over if there is? Any help would be great thanks.

It is very, very expensive. I pay less than 3p/kWh for gas and 10p/kWh for electricity. You need a run a comparison based on your annual estimated usage in kWhs along with your postcode. Shout if you need help.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I'm glad it's expensive because that means there must be something cheaper. As we really need to lower costs right now a lot.

I have no idea about it to be honest. I've looked on the comparison sites but just get confused.

On the most recent bill the estimated usage for the last 12 months were:
    Gas: 14,981 kWh
    Electricity: 3,292 kWh

Ok. Can you google something in your town and give me its postcode. I will then run a comparison for you based on the above. I don't want to use your postcode for obvious reasons.

I have just checked using my postcode and with your usage my annual bill would be £865.95. I can go cheaper if I use separate suppliers but that does require a little bit more account management.

The supplier above is not listed on comparison sites: Iresa Energy Flex 3 is the tariff fixed for one year.

  • Thank you so much that's really kind of you. FY4 4UJ
  • I'm not sure what to do about the gas and electric issues, just really need as much money freeing up as possible to clear an overdraft etc, so any savings that can be made would be good.

My best offer. Based on your projected consumption, the annual cost would be £860.85 or £71.74 per month.

Iresa Flex 3 Gas S/C 15.45 and 2.396/kWh (both plus VAT)

Electricity S/C 16.27 and 10.484/kWh (both plus VAT)

    Apply at. https://selfservice.iresa.co.uk/sales/home

The gaining supplier (Iresa) will manage all aspects of the switch. They will ask you for meter readings. You pay the first month's DD immediately after the end of the 14 day cooling off period.

Account management is online and you can enter meter readings at anytime.

Thank you so much for doing that. Will be changing for sure now and will go with them as well that you've kindly found.

How much cheaper would it be still if it was done through separate suppliers for each gas and electric? And how much harder would that be to sort out? Or is it best to keep both with one supplier?

Thank you for all your help with this.

My advice is 'keep this simple'. Go for dual fuel with Iresa which has NO Exit Fees. You can then feel comfortable with the switching process and then look at separate suppliers. When I last checked the difference was small - at least for my consumption levels

  • Thank you for your help and advice, it's really appreciated so much. Will go with that one I think and it's a huge saving on what's being paid right now and has been for the past two years as well oops.

I doubt you can go through a site like top cash back to change to that supplier can you and get money back, only just learning about all that as well.
