If I pay extra for 'Meet and Greet' rather than parking the car off-site and getting a shuttle bus to the airport, what can I expect to get?
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

You get "meet and greet"
or else read the website for the company concerned!!!
If you can use a computer use it or even ring the company!!!!!!0 -
They meet you at the airport. Take your car and park it somewhere where you have no knowledge of how secure it is or how and when it is driven as you leave the keys with them: a complete stranger.
Total madness IMHO this choice.
Use the on airport car park where you keep your keys with you.
Why risk it?0 -
Yes, I know I can look at the website.
Just wanted to know what the general expectation of such services would be.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
If you use Manchester its really Park and Walk ! saying that i use it a few times a year and still think its the best compromise but hardly money saving. Never had a single issue in about 10 times, car never offsite, just to a long stay area, then they bring it back.
Basically you drive in, park in a lane, unload, walk about 50 yds to a kiosk, leave your keys, walk another 50 yds to the terminal, job done....reverse that after your holiday.
Don't confuse official meet and greets with those 3rd party ones that drive your car offsite.0 -
We used the purple parking meet & greet service twice at Heathrow ....basically turned up at the car park at the relevant level and handed over keys. Walked out of arrivals on our return and picked up keys, walked over to car & drove home.
Only had an issue once when we dropped off the car as, for some reason - which I suspect was my fault - they didn't have the paperwork to hand but as we had our copy they simply hand wrote it and there was no issue when we got back.
Had no issues with mileage or damage to car0 -

Lots of miles on your car while you are away

I use meet & greet regularly. You drop your car off near departures it gets taken to a car park. When you come home you call them when you have your luggage and they meet you with your car, usually in the same place you dropped it off.
I have never had any problems with extra mileage or damage, but only use services that have their own Park Mark secure car park such as Meteor or Purple. There are a lot of small companies, usually cheaper, who are very vague as to where your car will be kept, I would touch any of these with a barge pole.
It's a great service for very early morning outbound flights or late evening arrivals, especially when travelling with children. I tend not to bother if it's a late morning/afternoon departure or arrival.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Thanks everyone.
OH and I used the Manchester Meet and Greet - flew back from Oz last night. We were very underwhelmed - and at no point were we either meeted or greeted!
Basically parked the car in a car park reasonably close to the terminal (but parking off-site and getting the shuttle bus would have delivered us closer). Then on arrival last night (in the dark and the rain) we were told vaguely that the car was somewhere 'over there' (in a separate multi-storey) - not what we wanted after travelling for 24 hours. We'll not be doing it again.
We'd been led to believe that the car would be 'ready for us', which I took to mean it would be near the terminal, at the very least. When we made it clear to the guy on the desk that this wasn't really what we were expecting, he didn't sound at all surprised. I don't think we were the first. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Was this the official one on the airport?
I have used them a few times, most recently returning on 01/01/2017 at 1145pm.
I walked from the terminal to the meet and greet office, upon arrival, I gave them my ticket and they gave me the keys and said thank you very much, your car is in bay 9 just around the corner.
What were your expectations?0 -

yes, this was my experience of Manchester airport's own meet and greet service (they have one at each main terminal, we used T3). The walk is literally 2 minutes from the terminal building exit to the meet and greet cabin where you drop off and collect your keys. By far the closest I've parked and retrieved my car at any onsite airport parking facility.0
