Hi everyone
Popped into town this morning and got all my cards and wrapping paper for next Xmas! Boxes of cards for 99p were down to 24p and the same price for paper...all at the Card Factory if anyone has one.
That was the only shop that was busy...everywhere else was very quiet.
Daughter in Amsterdam sent me a picture of snow there this morning, she says they've cleared the snow off the cycle lanes but not off the roads!
Got some dishes to wash and then planning to have a nice lazy afternoon, I have the newest Jodi Picoult book to start; I love her books and have them all...she has her own shelf on my bookcase.0 -
Afternoon all. I never got on this morning with one thing and another scuppering plans! HESTER I couldn't get to sleep last night thinking about poor little Jessica's family. I can't imagine how they must be feeling. It's so very sad.
Been busy doing nothing today! Two washer loads done and over the airers in the back bedroom (the warmest room) and a quick trip into town (out of necessity!) and that's been it! Apart from making a bit of lunch for us both. It's a CBA day and my afternoon is going to be spent with my feet up reading. I have mislaid my decluttering head!
I have no idea what tea will be but it will involve a rummage in the freezer and grabbing the easiest thing I lay my hands on. Probably fish of some sort as I have a good assortment out there.
GERS I hope the new baby in Oz will be ok. What a worry. Hope your DM is now on the mend too. (((HUGS))) as always to LAINEY and her DM and all the other poorlies and worried. Enjoy the rest of the day if you can folks and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hi everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc xx
Sending hugs to Hester and Lainey xxx
Gers - hope the new baby is okay xx
Today I went to Ts first thing to get the components for delias lasagna. It is going in the oven at 3pm and DSis and family are coming at 4. We will eat here then we are off to the panto in Bromley. Might see you there Jackie
I refuse to pay theatre prices so I have some bags of sweets for the children that we will take.
Second load of washing is on and I've made a meal plan for the week. Feeling slightly more relaxed and more in control of things than I have in a long long time. I need to make arrangements to see friends in the next month or so - one of my plans for 2017 was to see those I love more often.
Hope you all have a great day,

Afternoon ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) if you need one. Hester I am so sad to read about Jessica, hugs to you all.
Late up this morning, so meals late through the day. Cleaned the sitting room, and sifted a chair, just about jiggered myself but its done.
Cauli and Broc gratin for supper, its made just need to reheat it, jacket spuds and baked tomatoes with it.
Its been a very grey day, I lit the fire earlier, it was quite chilly, rad off in the sitting room, need to remember to turn it on before we go to bed.0 -
Despite it being very warm in her place I miss my cold but cosy cottage. I was talking to a neighbour the other day about hot homes and she said her mum is the same. I prefer an extra jumper and socks with the woodburner blazing to the stuffy central heating heat. I know, it's odd.
I am exactly the same Gers, I really dislike stifling central heating almost as much as I hate being cold. But give me some thermals, extra thick fleece, socks and the heat from a wood burner, then I'm happy. Hope the baby is alright.
Afternoon all.
I had a far too early awakening this morning...4am!!! Flipping noisy neighbours again:(. I couldn't get back to sleep and am shattered now.
I have however walked the 3 mile round trip to the supermarket and my home delivery has already arrived and been put away in my defrosted and cleaned fridge freezer. It is full to bursting now but I'm at a loss as to what to have for dinner!;)
I went to the gym for a quick swim on my way home from the SM so at least the day hasn't been a complete loss. Just put a load of dried washing away and my sofa awaits me.
Enjoy your evening all.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Hello again,
what a difference a couple of days make, I am feeling so much better and no need at all, so far *touch wood* of either asthma pump or even breathing exercises.
Been around, done a shop, both market and SM, been to the library to pay the fine *oooopppps forgotten book while away* and got a new one each for me and DH, will keep us out of mischief.
Also paid the bills and my mother's loan of Euros, sorted a couple of things online and am feeling like I am getting back into my own routine, which is what makes me feel best.
DS visited so lunch plans were scuppered, just as well I had just got a head of broccoli, he made short work of a nice dish of pasta and broccoli.
Right, tonight leftover soup it is then, and a fresh apple from the market.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Had most of the family staying over Christmas and New Year for a few days and then again etc.
The amount of towels, bedding and tablecloths not to mention the two loads of laundry I did for a DD were incredible. I have spent most of the afternoon folding towels and bedding, making a pea and ham soup and preparing carrots, squash, potato and parsnips to make a topping for cottage pie tomorrow. Two dds are coming for lunch and it will be a dish that I can portion up for freezing later.
I finally got round to getting my watch strap replaced and a new battery and a couple of extra keys cut in York yesterday and tried to get a tester pot to go over a couple of scratches on the bedroom wall but had no luck in the places I tried.
I eventually ordered a tester pot, brushes and rollers from Am**on with free postage. TK maximus are sending me a dressing gown, cafetiere and throw for the living room and a couple of pairs of trousers and a jumper are on the way to try (reduced to £10 from £40 and £15 from £50 ) from another site.
Really difficult to get long trousers and these are a brand I have had before so grabbed them before they went out of stock.
Hester
Thinking of you and the poor family and have no words. Hug.
Caterina
I am so glad you are back home and in your own bed.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Evening all,
just a flying visit from me tonight. Its my Youngest Sons 21st birthday today. Pity he's been too ill to enjoy it though he's had some lovely gifts and he's appreciated every one of them. He's gone out tonight still not well but determined to enjoy whats left of his birthday as he's spent the day in bed.
Prodigal Son came this morning for some food and some good news. He's got a flat. I'm pleased of course as i no longer have to worry about him sofa surfing or worse but i wish his finances were sorted out. He's still wading through red tape and paperwork just to identify who he is. Seems like a birth certificate, bank statement and National Insurance number isnt enough any more.
Shopped on a shoe string today. Because of the weeks hubby has had off for Christmas (he got paid a week in advance most of which went on Christmas gifts for the family) he hasnt had any money for 3 weeks. Still, we have quite a bit of food left from Christmas so its not been too bad.
Up twice in the night with one of the girls. I think she is just playing me for a fool. The second time i staggered down the stairs to open the door to let her out she just sniffed the air before going back upstairs and going back to bed. I wasnt amused. It would have been honest to say if i knew i wouldnt have woken the two sleeping men i'd have shouted at her.
Bought myself a set of scales today. I knew i'd lost weight as most of my clothes are now too baggy but ive lost a stone and a half since i was weighed last which was the beginning of November. Shocked is an understatement. Still plenty more to lose though. Hubby has lost just under a stone as we are both trying to lose weight together.
