This is one of the reason they have best before dates on them as they will start to spot white, this will be exaserbated if not kept in the correct conditions.
Store them well (5-10 celc) then they should be ok, presuming they have been stored well in the first place and not heated up or frozen.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Dont think anybodys mentioned it yet but the best before date is August 20070

I don't think anything could put me off chocolate.:D0 -
I believe when chocolate turns white it is only as a result of the sugar rising to the top, I dont think the chocolate goes off as such - but I could be wrong so dont blme me if you take any notice of this and subsequently die
By the way, could anybody tell me if these have a best before date ? Cant seem to find it LOLI understand ALOT more than I care to let on

I got a couple of advent calendars for the kids last year and when they opened them, the chocolate had gone white and so I wrapped them up and sent them back to Cadburys. (They were in date btw)
I recieved a letter of apology from Cadburys who told me that although the chocolate looked funny, it was safe to eat, but it may taste bitter and gave me a voucher. I was told they must have been stored in a warm place and then cooled again.
So choc that turns white might not taste the best, but you won't drop dead.
Worth buying these chocs to eat now, but I wouldn't go as far as xmas. A couple of weeks past the expiry date won't harm you.0 -
I saw Blue Peter once and they had a bar of chocolate from the First World War (1914-1918 for those of you not keeping up).
They said then that the chocolate would still be edible.
So I'd be quite happy buying cheap chocs past their BB date... they'd not last long at mine though!0
