Haggling with Vodafone

I'm due for a contract renewal and i've seen a much better deal on mobiles.co.uk for a new Vodafone contract than I can find on the Vodafone site directly.

I know they'll offer me 20% off the contract price (and that's irrelevant since I'd get it via NHS/friends and family discounts anyway).

Has anyone had great success haggling with Vodafone? Do you think they'll match a price? Any good tactics? The difference is £110 in handset price and 25% less monthly contract.

I want to go direct with vodafone because a) It's less hassle and b) you only get wifi-calls on your mobile if you go direct.

I remember the good old days where I managed to half my O2 contract, get a free phone and blag a years free broadband. Happy days.

  • Turns out they'll ring you a day after you've asked for your PAC and try to offer a better deal.

Too late, I'd already requested to be ported to GiffGaff - and once i'm there I'll port back as a new customer to Vodafone via mobiles.co.uk - saving £130 on the same package.

Most Vodafone customers haggle to leave.

To be honest they've been fine. I've had far worse trouble with Three

A lot of people appear on here as loyal customers of many years until... Then they count the days until they can get away. Having said that, most other networks aren't terrific. I've recently had very bad experiences with Talkmobile (who maybe caught the disease from Vodafone, since they also use their network).
  • I'm a bit stuck with Vodafone - no network has a good signal in my areas, but since my work mobile is with Vodafone, work also paid for the booster.

Why not consider one of the MVNO's who run on Vodafone then? I think there are currently around half a dozen.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Because they won't work with my Vodafone SureSignal booster box. I've got to run that for work.

Most mobile signal is rubbish in my house without some kind of booster.
