in Credit cards
I belong to a few forums and subscribe to some, UK sites no problem although one major one i use handed over the running to some foreign firm and its gone downhill since.
Not happy about using my credit or debit card, I know i will be covered but do not want the hassle of having to get new cards etc.
Looking at getting a Prepaid card, I had the Kalixa one previously and it worked out well with the exchange rates to euros. But that closed.
Looking at the Pockit card but it mentions horrible exchange fee of 4%.
Appears to be 4% to topup overseas??
Anyone used it for website purchases in euro or US $?
Thanks. I only want it to put small amounts on occasionally, a couple of times a year, less than £100 a year.

It wont be used for travelling though, buying online only, but not in UK pounds. Usually euro or US $.
Monzo not right, Topup £100. I wont be spending that much a year.
Revolut appears fine though. Not read the full terms yet.
Thanks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Ahhh Revolut has a virtual card. Will that work for my needs? Buying online only?

OK a slight issue, says my topup limit has been exceeded. My limit is zero. ??Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Well Revolut is a washout. They want a copy of my passport or identity card. I have neither.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Monzo excess load can be withdrawn in cash from ATM or used in Tesco etc, as soon as you get the card, it costs nothing.
Revolut virtual card is all you need for online purchase, no need to pay the fiver for a plastic card (unless you travel). Try to avoid using it on weekends when there's a slight spread from the straight interbank rate.
It sounds like you need to follow the verification procedure on the app before using Revolut, perhaps you are not visible by electronic check...Evolution, not revolution0 -

I dont have a photo driving licence either, Had no issues with opening a First Direct bank account recently. Or the Santander one a while back, plus i used my Halifax account to do the top up, thats been open for well over 20 years.
Lived at this address for over 18 years also.
Should be no issues verifying me. I used the app to contact them, explained i dont have photo ID, nor photo driving licence or passport and UK citizens dont have ID cards. A few messages back and forth saying they need to verify my identity. A little while passed then they messaged back saying they can do a manual identity check. Just hold my passport upto my face and take a selfie. Take a selfie with the passport i do not have? HOW?
Puzzles me why they let me set it up and deposit the initial £10 and then says over my limit which is zero and then asks for ID. But it still took my £10.
Now i need to wait for it to be credited, not hold my hopes up there because when i click the balance icon it says please verify your account. So will it show my funds without verifying my account and will i get my money back?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
£100 initial topup is just to get the card and once you have it then just either withdraw the money which is free at any ATM or just spend it which also is fee free.0

I had the Pockit prepaid and had nothing but trouble and also their customer service is terrible. Stay away in my opinion!0
