Not much to report on the MSE front. After the initial flurry of being paid at the end of the month and bills coming out at the beginning, there's that quiet lull in the middle where no amount of staring at your spreadsheets makes any difference.  However this month is a little different. I am waiting for that bonus to hit the account. This should be around the 13th and then the pay hits at the end, including the increase.  They do something with the tax so your personal allowance is used on the bonus and not your pay and we all get confused.  So I am keeping two running totals for March. One for how it actually is now and one for how I think it will look with the bonus and the new pay.

I have asked my MiL to let me know how much we still owe them. I pay £50 a month and she keeps a running total as she is completely control freak  organised.

In shameful news, MrM's car was due to be dropped at the garage for it's MoT and we both completely forgot :open_mouth:
and I have bought myself a griddle pan from Amazon.  I'm also toying with the idea of the heated drier from the land of lakes.  Every year I whistfully look at them and say I can't afford it and as much as most of my bonus will go towards debt destruction, (Overdraft reduction) it's not fair if it's all work and no play.  We all need new trainers too, especially 14yo and his manky foot rot.   I've not had a new pair in 5 years!

I'll be a dithering for a while longer before any decisions are made.

Those are valid enough reasons. At least you had the opportunity which made you realise how you already have a great job  B)

Ooh ooh we have the heated airer 💘 love it. The covers extra but does dry things better. We got rid of our tumble drier last week as we dont use it  B)
Well worth the outlay. Do note though that although it folds flat its pretty tall and wide still so make sure you have somewhere to store it. Ours juatblives in the conservatory.
Im like your mother in law with keeping account lol
Hope the bonus goes a long way x

I have tumble drier and I use it for towels and bedding but do get lazy in the winter and use it for regular washing.. Otherwise I tend to put stuff on an airer then finish them off in the tumbler the next day.  I'm just sick of my house looking like a launderette all winter.  We do have a small utility room/downstairs cloakroom so I hope I'd be able to store it in there and have it up in the upstairs landing during the winter.  Which reminds me I must go and empty the washing machine!

I've updated my signature a bit. I've added the overdraft as it's a debt hanging over our heads. Ive never really thought of it as debt in the past, it was just "extra" money. I also called MiL to find out how much we owe them. It's £2000.  We pay them £50 a month.  In reality our debt is closer to £40k. 😔

Good news, MrM's car passed its MoT. It cost £52 and I had this saved in the Monzo car maintenance pot. 👍

Don't give up Naomin, Every £1 paid off the debt brings you closer to freedom.  Knowing the total owed is scary but essential to re enforce the must repay it in your head. Ours built up in spades but we are finding ways to get it paid off bit by bit.  I don't post totals on here in case real life figures me out (conspiracy theorist remember) but we couldn't pay off such big chunks for a while and were mainly treading water.  Now we are swimming but we live in fear of sinking so pay off what we can to reduce the debt so if poop hits the fan at any point its less of a worry.
