A Ditherer's Diary (again)

I did have a chat with 14 yesterday about money and how much everything costs. Considering the position my SiL is in, and the fact her 21 year old has just walked out of her "new" job and her 17 year old left college and sits around doing nothing all day, I pointed out this will not be tolerated in this house and practically gave him a run down of the bills. I know I was boring him but I also want him to realise that you have to plan, budget and work if you are able. TBH 14 doesn't get too much in spending money, certainly not compared to his friends! but yes, maybe I should deduct some of the cost of the maple syrup.
I think I'm going to retry YNAB in a couple of months, once the updated pay and bonus and tax has been in. We'll see. I'm currently studying as well as working so may be able to get it at student price :g
I'm pleased the meal plan is motivating. I hate cooking. I do. But there is an enjoyment to making things from scratch and having them enjoyed and asked for more or again and even more enjoyment for keeping within my budget.
Forgot we spent £58 on the dog today. Already had £50 in the "vet" pot so have paid using that and will need to deduct £8 when the pot updates next week. Then I still have to pay for his medicineCredit Cards NOV 2019 £33,220.42 Sept 2023 £19,951.00 Tilly Tidy 20223/COLOR] Sept £43.71 Here's my diary: A Ditherer's Diary Again1 -

We went off piste with the meal plan yesterday. 10yo had a hockey tournament after school. MrM and I stood in the freezing cold for 3 hours watching and cheering her on. We were SO FROZEN, we decided to go and have a curry as my hands and feet were numb and I didn't want to cook. We picked up 14yo and pootled off to the local curry house. A meal for 4 with soft drinks came to £70. There was an issue with their wifi when we came to pay and it kept declining the card. I sent MrM off to the cash machine, in the meantime I looked at my banking app and it showed the meal as a pending payment. I showed them the pending transaction, so we agreed to pay cash and got the Manager to write "paid in cash" on the receipt. I'll keep a keen eye on the bank transaction and if it goes through then we can pop up for a refund.
There was plenty more shennanigans with the teen & tween that involved washing up/not washing up, general mess and stress but it's not very MSE.
Prolific up to £14.22 for the month so a little improvement on what it was and will go straight on the Barclaycard.

Ooh unexpected bonus, when I checked PayPal there was £21 in there after my prolific paid out. I've paid it on the B'card so that's £59 extra this month.Credit Cards NOV 2019 £33,220.42 Sept 2023 £19,951.00 Tilly Tidy 20223/COLOR] Sept £43.71 Here's my diary: A Ditherer's Diary Again1

Afternoon all, a spendy day here but....all out of various budgets! Got my nails done, got 10yo's hair cut, filled the car with petrol, got dog food for the month and a little bit of shopping at Sainsbugs. I'm getting much better with the top up's. I only got dishwasher tablets and food caddy sacks which is all I wanted. I feel like I have a halo today 😇
No plans to go out tomorrow, need to do housework and homework.
Just about to sit and watch Arsenal vs Chelsea womens continental cup final. C'mon you blues!

I'm sitting here, in the Doctors waiting room writing this post. Don't worry, my health is fine. 14yo appears to have something similar to trench foot. Probably eczema from being in soggy socks or something but its keeping him and I awake at night. Luckily I work for a very flexible company so working from home at the drop of a hat is acceptable.
Financially, my piggy pot money has transferred and I need to allocate it to the correct piggies. The first round of beginning of the month dd's have left the account.
The dishwasher is doing it's best to break down, but armed with Google, elbow grease and an egg cup I managed to fix it. (Fingers crossed). I've only just got money in the EF and want to keep it there for now.
14yo also needs new trainers. I think the £30 a month I put by for clothing and haircuts isn't enough. I may need to review the SOA.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, weather on Saturday was shocking but yesterday was glorious and I managed to get my towels out on the line with just a quick tumble to finish off.

Hope the foot rot turns out to be something easily treated! I get a weird eczema on my feet occasionally where tiny bubbles appear on the soles which get larger and eventually go with eczema cream. i think its when I use a certain anti mould spray in the bathroom and spill some. I call it my foot rot with affection xxDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓
