Hope the foot rot turns out to be something easily treated!  I get a weird eczema on my feet occasionally where tiny bubbles appear on the soles which get larger and eventually go with eczema cream.  i think its when I use a certain anti mould spray in the bathroom and spill some.  I call it my foot rot with affection xx
Funnily enough, I also call it manky foot rot.  :D  But yes easily treated. I think once the burning and itching calms down and he can sleep it will help.

So, news... it's about my job, nothing MSE and as far as I'm aware does not involve more money.  I am a credit controller, I've been with my company for two years and love my job.  Including my line Manager there's four of us and we're a really tight knit team which enhances the work.  The company is merging with another, there is no news on whether any jobs will go and no firm dates for the merger.  I am currently being sponsored by my employer for a two year course which has just started this January.  I have been approached by my manager to shift over for a few months to a different part of Finance to help them out. It's more in keeping with my current studies. I would leave my job for a few moths until they employ someone then go back to my old job.  However, I'm wondering if it's the company's way of trimming my department ready for the merger?  Also, my boss sold it to me as it was because I'd done some Audit work and one of the Finance Directors was impressed but on chatting to one of my colleagues, who didn't do any audit work, she was also offered the position.  So now I don't feel special! lol  My other worry is, if I say no, will I be passed over for other opportunities?  Dilemma...

Take it! I work in finance (yes I know the irony of being on here!) and any opportunity to increase your skill set will be ideal for your CV.  Should things go belly up at work showing you are flexible for your employers, willing to take on new tasks and the increased knowledge will all go excellently towards finding new work.

  • As long as the change in department won't change your employment contract (e.g. start date for the purposes of calculating your years of service) or the arrangement about your course fees, then I say go for it :)

The irony isn't lost on me either considering my job. 🙈

I'm with you M_F that I believe it will open opportunities. I've made no secret of it to my colleagues that I am willing to get my name & face known to keep my job (we're a large corporate).  MrM being the harbinger of doom thinks I might get stuck doing something boring.   @GC,  I've decided I'm going to talk to my boss and the Senior Finance Manager tomorrow to find out exactly what it entails.

I'm doing CICM but the current module is Accounting Principles. The idea that although your looking at it from a credit manager's point of view, you can run all ledger accounts,  understand them and know how to read them!

Did you chat to your seniors regarding the job Naomin?  What have you decided to do?

Did you chat to your seniors regarding the job Naomin?  What have you decided to do?
I have decided not to do it.  There's a few reasons. Firstly my studying is for Credit Management, my current role is in Credit Control. Although this module of studies is for Accounting Principles, it's only one quarter of the course and I think I need to stay in credit.  Also, I actually REALLY LIKE my job.  As in really like it and I don't think many people can say that truthfully. Part of it is down to my boss. He is the best boss I have ever had (I've told him this before). He allows us flexibility - especially those of us that have children and may need to wfh at the drop of a hat or leave early for a school play, dentist etc. At present I work out of a different office one day a week so I get to do the school run once a week.   It would mean a temporary change of boss. Whilst the Finance Manager is a nice guy, he's old school. There wouldn't be any more leaving at 5.15 every day to make sure I catch my train, no wfh once a week and no holidays at month end.  These may sound like silly reasons but I felt I had to take everything into consideration including the impact on my personal life.

    Thanks for asking :)
