  • I am definitely in the lightweight club or cheap date club as I call myself but as my tolerance has built up slightly over the festive period I am cutting back before I become expelled from the club!

  • @Naomim I've just finished reading your diary up to the present. I could cheerfully kill that builder on your behalf. Your account of the deaths of your dog and the wee pup made me cry . I too have a dog who seems destined to cost me a fortune in vet fees : heart murmur, dodgy teeth, luxating patellas and rapid onset arthritis after an emergency hysterectomy . I rushed into buying her after the death of my last dog. Your fortitude in the face of everything that has happened to you is amazing. Here's hoping 2022 is a much better year for all of us.

@Scottiedog_3 gosh you have some stamina to get through the whole diary. Our dogs are always so well loved that their passing is so painful and I think unless you have a pet, you don't necessarily understand the grief.  My 16yo is still struggling at times to come to terms with it,  being the first passing in his life.  We are hoping to get another furry family member this year at some point. Without rushing, choosing the right one from the right people 🙂

@moving_forward I used to be up there with the best of them! Kids and hangovers don't mix and now I'm just not that bothered. I'd rather have a tin of chocolates and a cup of tea! 🤣

I've been thinking of the EF and I'm almost at £1k. I have £600 in a cash ISA and £350 in PB's. I put £50 a month in so think I'm just going to keep going. There's a lot that needs doing on the house still and I will need a new car soon. (New to me!)

I've recently developed a love of old fashioned sweeties. Swizzels and them chewy types. I find a few of them is quite a good replacement for the sugar hit you get with alcohol but not so sure my dentist is going to be happy with me!

That's fantastic. Hopefully we won't be far behind you soon. Everytime I try PBs I end up taking the money out but may look at a cash ISA as a way of stashing it away. Currently it's in an old unused joint acc.

Morning all, had the in-laws over yesterday, a lovely roast and games of cards.

During my mammoth clear up before they came I unplugged my heated airer which hadn't been on for over a week but was plugged into an extension lead to find the plug had melted! 😮😱 I'm so glad it hadn't been on and very concerned we could have burned the house down.  So scary. I will get another as it's been so useful but will have to think about where it can go or get an electrician to put another socket in.

Just catching up on Call The Midwife and doing 100 loads of washing.😖

  • Oh god that does sound scary. We have the big drysoon one from Lakeland and I'm always teasing Mr M_F for switching it off when we go out but maybe he has the right idea 😱

  • Could you maybe complain to the manufacturer and see if they offer a replacement?

@moving_forward this was the Lakeland drysoon one. I'm more inclined to think the problem was with the extension lead than the airer. This was the only thing plugged into the extension lead so not overloaded. I'm going to go up a bracket and get the one with the timer on as I am bad at remembering to turn it off.
