    3rd post today Sarer

To be fair lets give people the choice here. There are other worthy causes here, it all down to personnel choice

Right, just checking my new xmassy avatar.
    Seeing if it looks ok.

    Edit - that'll do.
I've been googling and messing about for ages.
I tried to find the site where I made my original one, but can't find it.
So I've gone for a weemee instead.
  • Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to comping and haven't won anything yet. However, being the eternal optimist, I wonder if someone could answer a couple of naff questions from me.

I see mention of WEM's and I assume this to be "winners' e-mails". Is this the normal method used to inform winners? Are the prizes always received and if so, how long does it normally take for the goodies to arrive? Are the prizes always as described, or do promoters sometimes try to fob winners off lesser prizes?

I know the answers to these questions are probably obvious to seasoned compers, and I apologise in advance for that. Any background information or useful hints would be welcomed by this ever-hopeful newbie. Good luck everyone.

    Hi
There are a few ways of being informed of a win. I find the most common way is the prize turning up unexpectedly. A lot of companies don't inform winners beforehand and just send out the prize. A wem is also very common though. For 'big' prizes you would normally receive a phone call or letter. It all depends on the company and their t&c's.
It can take various times for prizes to be received, sometimes a couple of days later, sometimes months later. I know theres a few people still waiting for prizes from summer. Thats not common though and you would normally expect to wait upto 28 days.
I've always received exactly what I am meant to and had no substitutions or items missing. I know other people have had some problems with prizes but again it differs between company.

    NOW IN COMPING SEMI-RETIREMENT! :D
