If you are not claiming for any damage to your own vehicle this will cause you nothing. Had a similar situation with my brother this time last year when he hit a parked car. Ended up going through his own insurance and it cost him nothing.
You have to report it to your insurance anyway regardless so might as well get them to fix it.

I'm sorry but this is incorrect. If someone makes a claim against you on your insurance, you will not be charged for the excess but you will lose a portion of your no claims bonus. So it will have some effect.0
