I note the comments regarding transfer overload, however, I have a further question:
I too am considering switching my domestic energy supply for both Electricity and Gas to Iresa.
However, when I look in detail at their billing procedure for the cost of gas, it seems to indicate Iresa use a “standard” Calorific value for gas of 40.3841MJ/m3.
Looking back quickly over 16 years of our various gas company accounts I have never seen a calorific value this high and I estimate Iresa’s adoption of a “standard” value will increase my gas bill by approximately £ 25 / year.
Perhaps there is a significant county wide variation in calorific value or perhaps I have simply misunderstood the Iresa billing process but I am interested in Forum comments?
Their use of a fixed calorific value has already been challenged by a number of their customers including myself. Iresa has responded by saying that their website is being updated and bills will be adjusted in March. Consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.uk is also aware of the situation.
From Iresa's Twitter Feed:
Good Morning 🙂@unwina We have recently been made aware of this issue and we working to amend our site ASAP

I would second Hengus' comments. I am still waiting for my electricity meter point details to be entered 3 months after switching, and I have had no response to a query raised over a week ago. If you try to phone them, be prepared to be on hold for up to 30 mins.
This morning I tried to log in to my online account and got a message that the server is down 'due to maintenance or capacity problems'. So all the signs are that they are struggling to service the current volume of new customers.
Has anyone else had these problems with them?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Yes. See alternative Iresa thread.0 -
There should be a regulation whereby you can cancel the switch and revert, if things are not going according to plan. That would focus minds in the industry!0

There is such a regulation: it is called the '14 day cooling off period'.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
As you well know Hengus being an Iresa transferee, Iresa doesn't move on your transfer until after the 14 days, so I am obviously not talking about that period!
As far as Iresa is concerned, you can switch at any time without incurring a penalty. I am not sure what more suppliers can do to keep their customers happy? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hengus. If you read my post more carefully, you will note that I said "cancel the switch and revert"
not switch again! I say this because of the potential complications of switching virtually immediately from a new supplier like Iresa, who seem to be having problems setting up the initial switch in the first place! The water could get very muddied!0 -

In other words, an undo button. I suppose the mechanism exists already in the form of erroneous transfer resolution, this would just be to let you invoke it for a correct transfer where you've changed your mind.
Of course the previous supplier has no obligation to take a customer back (although I doubt there would be many reasons they wouldn't).
All that said, hopefully your transfer won't be delayed much longer and the savings from the tariff can take your mind off the annoyance of the setup.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
