I use glass cleaner sold to clean car windscreens. Apply with a microfiber cloth, allow to dry (one minute), wipe off with a different microfiber. No rubbing required, excellent finish, no streaking.

I use hot water, a very fine microfibre cloth for windows and finish off with kitchen roll. I've found I get a better result with just water than if I add a small amount of washing up liquid.

Cap of autoglym car bodywash cleaner added to a bucket of water on the outside including frames applied with a microfiber. Rinsed off with a hose afterwards. This leaves the upvc looking like new and very shiney and smooth. I would not use washing up liquid on the frames as it will dry out the plastics.

Spray on window cleaner for the inside cleaned with a microfiber and polished with a dry microfiber.

Once a year I clean ans oil the frame internals with gt85.

Windolene cream (not that horrible spray stuff).

It dries out to a powder residue (which is likely why the auto products above work so well) which I then polish with a micro fibre cloth.

As microfibre cloths are used by plenty of people in response to this thread, can people recommend best places to buy microfibre cloths, for price & quality?

I got a pair of microfibre type cloths from Lakeland for windows. You get one to clean with and one to dry with. They are fab and about £6 for the pair I think?
  • I get ours from Amazon. Use the ones for glass polishing; they don't shed at all.

    Stop using washing up liquid.
Why? Ive used lemon washing up liquid and a squirt of vinegar with a microfibre cloth for years.
